After a new HP laptop that would not power on, I went back to Circuit City and purchased what I though was a lesser laptop. I was wrong. This is a very fine product.
A few good things:
The sound is impressive.
Touchpad, 4 directional arrows, & 2 buttons are great.
Screen is bright and clear, colors vivid.
DVD helped me avoid buying portable one for car.
CD Writer software is so easy.
$100 Compaq rebate.
$50 rebate for $50 external floppy drive (wow, free).
Handles my MS Office XP and graphics well.
Not so good things:
Only 2 USB ports. I have a mini mouse, numeric keypad, PC Cam, DSL modem. Seldom use the PC Cam and fixed the DSL issue by going wireless. Bought a mini 4-port USB Hub anyway.
Keyboard seemed a little soft on the number 1/! but not getting worse so I am ok.
A bit heavy.
Battery is good until I watch a DVD in the car so I bought a car/air adapter.
Back of laptop has snap open/shut door to reveal connection ports. Seems like it will wear down and break with too much use.
It's a warm one. As with other laptops, this one gets pretty warm on the bottom. Buying a tray for ventilation.
