| chance2run's Full Review: Compound W Liquid |
When I noticed a wart starting to form just above my ankle I didn't pay much attention to it. The next time I went to the grocery store I did stop at the section where wart removers were displayed. Since I know the brand of Compound W is a widely used brand I passed the "store brand" wart remover and paid out almost $8 for the little vial of remover that I thought would last the duration of the treatment.
Those who make assumptions can so easily be proven wrong!
After reading the instructions to be sure I was using the Compound W product correctly I applied my first drop of medication. Within minutes I felt a burning sensation but didn't think too much about it. As the next few days passed and I repeated the treatments I noticed that the liquid started out VERY thin. In the process of trying to get this medication on the outside of my leg I had to bend in uncomfortable ways which made it difficult to apply the liquid to the wart without getting any on the surounding skin. When some of the Compound W liquid would drip or flow off the affected area I wiped it away and didn't worry, treatment's had begun so the ugly wart will be gone soon- RIGHT?
WRONG
Within a few days while noticing that the medication had gone from a water like consistancy to that of old glue that wouldn't leave the bottle I noticed the skin around my wart was very red. With my second bottle of Compound W (total spent of $16 so far) I made sure to keep the cap tightly closed and paid close attention to only getting the liquid on the wart and not on the surounding skin. Even with this precaution my red/inflamed skin around just got worse. When it started to peel off layers of what was healthy skin it left a bright red ring around the still present wart. This was much more noticable than the original wart.
After 4 more bottles of the Compound W ended up being replaced not because the bottles were empty, but because they all turned into a think and gummy unusable product,I still have the wart. I have now spent much more money on these treatments than I would have paid in co-payments for an initial visit with my doctor as well as a seperate appointment with a dermatologist. I now have to wait until the irritated skin heals before I can even do what I should have done from the start-
Talk to my doctor!!!
I would not recomend this as a reasonable way to treat warts. I now fully believe in doing the most logical thing which would be to see my doctor so she can fully inform me of my options and help me decide what will work the best for my situation. Compound W failed me on the quality of the formula that makes it dry up, on being a safe and effective method of wart removal, and by far on the high cost of this medication. With all this in mind I definately suggest looking for other (and cheaper) solutions.
