No Help for the WEARY and In PAIN!

The Bottom Line: After my personal experience with Comtrex, I would not recommend this product at all!

Have you ever had a sore throat? Of course you have. BUT, have you ever had "THE SORE THROAT FROM HE Double "L"?
Well, let me tell you, I woke up a few weekends ago with the WORST sore throat I have ever had in my life, and nothing would give me any relief. I tried 4 aspirin (a little relief, but not much), later I took 4 more aspirin but got no relief at all. After an entire day of grabbing my throat every time I swallowed, I sent my husband to Walgreens to get me a bottle of this "Comtrex" stuff that everyone on Epinions had nothing but GREAT REVIEWS on. "This stuff is gonna cure me and I am going to sleep like a baby!" I thought as I waited anxiously for my husband to return home with my bottle of "Magic Potion"!
NOT!! It didn't even touch the pain, AT ALL!
Here is what "Comtrex" is Supposed to do:
Comtrex active ingredient in each fl. oz. is
Acetaminophen 1000mg. This medicine's purposes are to act as a pain reliever and a fever reducer.
It was my experience that it did not relieve my pain at all. After tossing and turning, and waiting about 2 hours to give the medicine time to work, I resorted to good old ADVIL, and took 4 of them babies, and finally knocked out to sleep.
Uses
*Temporary relief of minor aches and pains associated with:
~sore throat ~headache
~muscular aches ~a cold
~reduction of fever
Didn't even touch my sore throat at all.
How quick does the medicine take effect? How long does one dose last?
The Comtrex box states that it Immediately Soothes Pain. Yeah right, don't make me laugh! Yes it feels a little soothing as it goes down your throat, but after it is down the pain is back, and it doesn't go away. After the medication takes hold it will SUPPOSEDLY give relief for up to 6 hours. It didn't even work 1 minute for me!
Taste
Comtrex definitely tastes like medicine, but at least it has a somewhat decent Honey Lemon flavor.
Side Effects and Interactions
Product warns that anyone consuming 3 or more alcoholic drinks every day should consult a doctor about whether Acetaminophen or any other pain relievers/fever reducers should be taken (Acetaminophen may cause liver damage).
~Of Course, like with all Drugs, Pregnant and Breast Feeding Mothers should seek professional health care advice before using this product.~
***I went to the doctor on that Monday, after the weekend, and found out that I had STREP-THROAT. Maybe that is why the medicine didn't work for me. But come on, I would have thought that it would have helped a little, and it didn't. I would consider giving Comtrex another try, the next time I have a sore throat. After all, What have I got to loose? I have a full bottle, just waiting to... 1.) Cause me more Grief (or) 2.) Do what the box/bottle claim; Relieve and Soothe up to 6 hours.
Based on my previous experience though, I would not recommend this product to anyone. Not even my worst enemy! Nor would I consider purchasing it again!
