The Bottom Line: The Conair Infiniti SD8 Tourmaline Ceramic Styler works really well and is quite affordable. Straighten, detangle, or brush out your hair as you dry it.

I have long layered straight hair that has just a tiny touch of a wave to it. I will either curl it a bit to play up that wave or use a flat iron to play it down. I purchased the Conair Infiniti SD8 Tourmaline Ceramic Styler on a whim. I liked the idea of drying my hair and styling it at the same time.
This is a good product although I only use one attachment and the unit is super heavy.
About the Conair Infiniti SD8 Tourmaline Ceramic Styler, Black
This combination blow dryer/styler has 1875 Watts of power and uses ionic technology. There are two heat settings - high and low - and the unit comes with three attachments. There is also a cold shot button.
You actually can use the Infinity as a normal blow dryer with no attachments but it would be a darn heavy blow dryer. In the box is a detangler attachment, a brush attachment, and a straighter comb attachment. Each locks onto the front of the unit securely.
The Infiniti is a big unit with a long handle and gun shaped squared off blower. It has a fairly long swivel cord that never tangles. However, it has a big block plug which takes up two outlets which annoys me.
Snapping the attachments on and off is easy and they stay securely on the front of the unit until you remove them.
My Experience
I knew I wouldn't need a detangler comb because I always comb my hair before washing then use a wide toothed comb after. I tried the brush attachment and the brush didn't really grip my hair well. I haven't truly given the brush attachment a chance because I fell in love with the straightening comb but I will try the brush again and see if I can get it to work for me.
The straightening comb is has teeth very close together. While I am blow drying my hair, I am also combing through it and bringing the ends of my hair forward. I find that the Conair Infiniti SD8 Tourmaline Ceramic Styler doesn't blow my hair all over the place like traditional blow dryers even though it has the same amount of power and I find that my hair dries quite a bit faster than with traditional blow dryers.
Using the Infiniti is very simple. The unit, to me, is on the heavy side. My blow dryers are very light so comparatively the Infiniti feels like a bowling ball at first. I'm getting used to the added weight though and hardly notice it now.
My hair tends to be dry at the ends and won't cooperate when I try to make the layers come forward toward my face. When I use the Conair Infiniti SD8 Tourmaline Ceramic Styler, my hair cooperates and comes forward the way I want it to and the ends don't get dried out. In fact, my hair as a whole looks silkier and smoother.
The straightening comb indeed straightens. The little wave in my hair is completely gone and I have a sleek, modern looking style. When I want more body, I will use the Styler without an attachment for a while, then finish off with the comb.
I don't have to use a curling iron on the ends to bring them forward and my style looks finished when I am done drying my hair. I don't have to use two hands, trying to manipulate a round brush and a blow dryer and, as I said, my hair dries super fast.
For having the heat so close to my hair, this unit doesn't cause any sort of damage at all. I highlight my hair, use lots of tools on it, and it's long so the bottom part is old and tends to look a little weathered. I worried that using theConair Infiniti SD8 Tourmaline Ceramic Styler with its heat so close to my hair would cause my already dry and slightly damaged hair more problems but, to the contrary, my hair looks healthier than ever and super shiny.
I use the Styler every time I blow dry my hair now. I don't even think about using my normal blow dryers. I just love the control I have with the Infiniti and I love the results. I am going to make an effort to work with the brush attachment for a different look but I'm so in love with the sleek style I get with the straightening comb that I may not even like different results. We'll see.
In all, this unit is inexpensive and really quite a good styling tool.
Buying Info
The Conair Infiniti SD8 Tourmaline Ceramic Styler can be purchased online at stores that sell hair tools as well as at places like Amazon.com. Offline, it is available in mass-market stores and drugstores. The price varies from store to store but the range is about $25.00 to $32.00 from what I have seen. I paid $29.99 for mine.
Conclusion
I bought the Conair Infiniti SD8 Tourmaline Ceramic Styler on a whim but now it's the only blow dryer I use. It gets my hair dry in about half the time that regular blow dryers do, doesn't make my hair fly all over the place as it dries it, and gives me a sleek, shiny, controlled style. The one caveat is that the unit is a bit heavier than a typical blow dryer but it doesn't take long to get used to the added weight. The results are worth it. 4 stars.
