Pros: Great shoes that are comfortable and cool looking! Awesome!
Cons: Bought by Nike who supports child labor and crummy designs.
The Bottom Line: Buy them at least one time in your life, but don't support child labor and poor designs by Nike. That's immoral.

Chuck Taylors, or Converse, or better known as just Chucks, were they greatest shoe America had ever known. Now they stand for the cruelty oh Nike, the evil shoe empire.
I have been wearing Converse since before I can remember. My folks just always bought them for me. They were so cool, even as a kid growing up in Zurich. Converse shoes were originally designed to be basketball shoes, one of the first types of shoes designed just for sports, if not the actual first. Converse got a basket ball player to endorse the shoes, and that man's name is Chuck Taylor. He was a very good player, and he said the shoes improved his performance. A lot of people started buying the shoes to perform better, some saying it did, some not noticing a difference. Either way Converse led the way in sport shoes for decades until Nike or Adidas showed up. Converse was eventually bought up by Nike in 2003. It was a sad day.
Converse come in low top style but the real money maker are the high tops! The high top shoes are wicked comfortable and fit any person snuggly but with just the right amount of toe room. People always say the high tops must be too warm to wear in spring and summer, but the opposite is true. They NEVER get too hot, and they always air aired out so they don't smell like... whatever your smelly feet smell like... I don't want to know. But that's not the point. The point is they are cool in the heat and they don't stink, and they feel comfy. I owned a low top pair once, and they gave my heels blisters like that was its function. Not really my cup of tea. I think they are comfortable when playing basketball or any indoor activity where you're running around on a wood floor. They are not very good for people with flat feet I've heard however because they don't support your feet very well, so I guess I wouldn't buy them if you're a flat footed person. The place where they rip the most often first for me is the heel. I try very hard to keep them in good shape as to not allow this to happen, like wearing socks so that my skin doesn't wear away the plastic that holds up the heal of the shoe. If you don't wear socks, the oil of your skin corrodes the inner lining and then the plastic, causing tears that are hard to fix no matter how much you glue and sew it. Then the part where your toes meet your feet start to crack, the plastic that is. That is not repairable. But the good thing about Chucks are that they look better as they age, and like those weirdoes who customize their cars, a lot of people customize their worn out Converse. It looks pretty cool, and I like it when people replace the white laces with rainbow ones. People also draw on them a lot to add personality. Another thing to add is, if you wear them in the snow, they get freezing cold, and they stay wet. Thats the only real downside to them.
Over all Converse shoes are very comfortable and last a very long time (I hold onto mine for about 4 years a pair). I love them, and they treat me well.
Here is the dark side to these shoes. Converse, the company, was bought out by Nike in a nasty battle between good and evil. Good does not always win as any adult knows, and Nike got Converse. At first, Nike did nothing but pump up the prices like George Bush pumped up gas prices, but to a more dramatic extent. Then they moved to company over to countries where they could use child labor. Then they just used materials of a lesser quality to make more of a profit. And to end the horror, they came out with all these retarded designs for them. Converse used to come in only blue, red, black and white, four colors. Now there are all these retarded colors. You can now get these stupid ones that are all black with the stupid anarchy symbol on them. You can get them in the American flag, you can get them in all these dumb colors, you can get them in these higher priced designer shoes that sell out artists design. You can even buy this really pathetic one that is all the fuzz of a tennis ball. They have these tennis ball Converse shoes made out of that neon yellow/green fuzz, for all you people who play tennis! What the hell? Do you or anyone you know want fuzzy shoes? Hell no! I hate Nike, they ruin everything.
Well, over all they are great shoes, these Converse, but the fact that they no longer cost $15, but rather a whopping $55 per pair, and they are now made by children in a sweat shop in some country and they come out in these dumb designs and everyone is wearing them, I think I will discontinue buying them. I can't afford it and I see it as immoral to support a company that makes money in such a filthy way. You might as well wear shoes that support evil. I had some good memories, and I think it is true that all good things must come to an end.
