Coppertone Oil Free Sunless Tanning Lotion is definitely not the worst self-tanner I've ever tried. As a certified cheapskate, most of the beauty products (including self tanners) I buy come from discount stores and clearance racks, so I'm used to a range of results: from pale as ever to a bitter orange. I don't know why I kept buying fifty cent bottles of store brands, but any color looked better than that all-too-familiar wintery white.
I stumbled across this website one day and started reading reviews of different products. I saw the self-tanners category and was reminded of the smelly chocolate-colored tube in my bathroom. When I saw the good reviews for Coppertone Oil Free Sunless Tanning Lotion, I realized that if I wanted a tan that looked, well, tan, I might actually have to spend money (nooo!)
So I went to WalMart and hunted through the tower of tanning products until I found Coppertone Oil Free Sunless Tanning Lotion. I was looking for the dark formulation, but all I could find was the light/medium stuff, so I forked over six fifty for it.
The Result
I followed the directions and took a shower with exfoliating body wash before I applied the tanner. I poured it onto my hands and rubbed them on my legs until they looked about even. At first, they seemed to be a little warmer looking, but the tan darkened slightly. I got a really nice, dark tan on my knees, but the rest of my legs were a few shades lighter. It took another application on only the legs to make them match the knees. The color is not orangey but it's not a deep, perfect tan. I would recommend shaving before you use this product or else it will be very noticeable that you didn't.
