| forkids's Full Review: Coppertone Sport Ultra Sweatproof Dry Lotion |
Bingo! Coppertone Sport comes out ahead. This is the sunscreen product my husband absolutely adores. He’ll use others in a pinch but this is the one that goes on his face and his upper forehead. We use this product on all body parts but particularly the face because it’s one of the less greasy lotions on the market. We buy it in the biggest tube available which is 8 oz. for $7.99.
The biggest selling point for this product is its “dry” lotion appeal. It absorbs into the skin immediately without any greasy residue left behind. Because a breakout is inevitable with constant lotion use, a sunscreen that was gentler to the face was a must. Our family was stuck on Coppertone’s Water Babies for face use until this one came along.
SPF’s Available: While we use Sun Protection Factor 48, it is available in 15 and 30. SPF 15 and 30 cost the same so we just go with the highest. Anything over 30 is generally overkill, but who cares.
Sizes Available: We go for the bulk value buy at 8 oz., 4 oz. is only $1 cheaper so stick with the larger size. Available in a new spray and stick, too.
Product Features:
It is, surprisingly, low maintenance. Put it on in the morning and go about my day. I do reapply it if I’ve been in the water or have finished working out. But of the adult sunscreen products I’ve used this one is incredibly forgiving. The true directions say: Apply liberally to all exposed areas prior to sun exposure and reapply after prolonged swimming, excessive perspiration, vigorous activity or toweling. This is what all sunscreen companies say and I do my best to stay protected but this product has a little more staying power than what I’m used to.
The fragrance is similar to all Coppertone products, light and comparable to what I remember growing up. I don’t find it unpleasant but oddly comforting. The texture is light and creamy like any lotion and white in color. It rubs in easily without any adverse skin reactions. It has a hypoallergenic formula and protects against the harmful sun’s rays, UVA and UVB. PABA-free means it should be less irritating, too.
Where To Find It
Wal-Mart, Target, Drugstore.com, your local pharmacy. Coppertone is the sunscreen leader, so it’s not a hard product to locate.
Note Sunscreens have an expiration date. If you don’t use sunscreens that often, buy the smaller size. Does sting my kids eyes, I only use this product on the lower body when my kids products are unavailable.
