| marytara's Full Review: Coppertone Water For Baby |
Summer is here and yesterday it was in the 90's where I live. If there is one that I have learned the hard way, its wear sunscreen. I remember as a child and a teen getting sunburns so bad that I had blisters and was in agony. I don't tan in the slightest bit. I have been blessed with the whitest of skin that goes from pasty white to lobster red in a matter of minutes in the sun.
My son, now 6 months old, has my pale and tender complexion, bright blue eyes and light hair (almost bald). I don't want him to get burned because 1) its painful and 2) its not healthy.
So, in addition to appropriate clothing, eyewear and a hat I am sure to slather him in sunscreen before we go out. I was very concerned about what sort of sunscreen to use on him because of chemicals, perfumes and additives that are often ingredients in sunblock. I asked my physician and he recommended Coppertone Water Babies
I picked up a bottle of this at my local grocery for $5.99. Of course I wanted to check to make sure it was safe for babies and it says on the bottle.
#1 Pediatrician Recommended. Check with physician's for use on children 6 months and younger Great!
Coppertone Water Babies Sunblock is a PABA-Free sunblock. It is rated to maintain protection for up to 80 minutes while in the water.
My rule of thumb is that it needs to be reapplied for every hour while swimming and every 2 hours out of the water.
The formula is non-stinging. This was so important to me, and I truly believe that it lives up to its billing. My son got rather sweaty and was rubbing his eyes and he didn't cry. (Of course I rinsed his eyes out anyhow) but the fact he didn't fuss was a good sign.
Coppertone Water Babies comes in a lotion formula and also in a spray and a stick (roll on) formula. I picked up the lotion formula since I'm most familiar with that kind of sunblock. It comes in both 30 SPF and 45 SPF. Being that my child is very fair, I chose the 45 SPF.
This product is Easy to Use. About 10-15 minutes before going into the sun you need to apply it. Simply squeeze a little out of the bottle and rub in to your child's skin. Coppertone Water Babies has the consistency of hand lotion, is white and lightly scented. It absorbs fairly quickly into the skin. Its on the runnier side as far as sunscreens go, but that makes it easy to spread around on a wiggly child.
This product is recommended for your baby when you are out in the sun. It BLOCKS harmful and very damaging UVA and UVB rays. Babies skin is more sensative than grown-ups skin and is very susceptible to damage from the elements. Its Waterproof! Your child can splash, swim or potch in the water without you worrying that their sunblock is rinsing away.
I've even used it myself. This stuff works! No sunburn for either of us while we enjoyed the sun, sea and swimming pool! Enjoy your time in the sun with your child, lather up and have a great time!
