| PHOTOGIRL814's Full Review: Coppertone Water For Baby |
I am reviewing this product for a reason which you will read after the review. I haven't written for a while, but this was important to me. I know the review isn't the best, but my heart hasn't been in it lately. Read on.
Yes my 9 year old daughter is still my baby and I still use Water Babies on her. She attends YMCA camp all summer and is outside 7 hours a day. I have used this sunscreen since she was 6 months old and it works great!
There are 2 kinds of Water Babies, the spray bottle, and the lotion. We have always used the lotion. The bottle says "pediatrician recommended" and I can see why. My daughter has never burned using this sunscreen and it stays on through a good hour of swimming. The SPF is 45, but I've recently read that manufacturers may be changing the way SPF is marked, as there is not much difference after about 40 SPF, and they are not wanting people to get too confident and not apply every hour as recommended.
This sunscreen is hypoallergenic, non-stinging, and is made for a babies sensitive skin. It is PABA free with moisturizers. The scent is pleasing, but not too strong. Even though the bottle says babies, the label recommends you ask your pediatrician before using on babies under 6 months. We purchase a 4 oz bottle for $5.95 at our local Kroger Store. The lotion is a bit runny and greasy but it absorbs very well and really works. This lotion is also good for adults with sensitive skin. Check out their website, www.coppertone.com for a complete line of their products.
I cannot recommend the use of sunscreen enough especially on children. I regret now that I didn't use sunscreen during my sun worshipping years, because now I have been diagnosed with melanoma. I have several small spots on my back and one very large and deep one. The doctor has cut holes all over my back and then cauterized them. Believe me when I could smell my flesh burning I was wishing I had used sunscreen. My prognosis is yet undetemined, as we are waiting to see what grows back. I can't begin to tell people how stupid it is to not use sunscreen. You always think things like this can't happen to you, but by God they can. Take care of your skin and apply sunscreen every hour. It is so simple and quick and will save your life.
One small note I wanted to write about was our fellow epinionator Hard_To_Please. I'm know many of you have been following his battle with cancer. I met Mark on this site shortly after he was diagnosed with his cancer which is far worse than mine. I left a comment on one of his epinions that even though I didn't know him I was praying for him and I understood what he was going through because of my skin cancer. And here this wonderful man, who has so much on his mind, e-mailed me back to tell me to stay strong.
He implored upon people to not ignore symptoms you may have, and I implore upon you to wear sunscreen. We are now both wishing we had done something sooner.
