| My3LilMen's Full Review: Coppertone Water For Baby |
Yes I will admit, I am in denial. I don’t want to face the fact that one day I will be unable to protect my three little men from the world. Keeping my children safe from the sun seems like such a small task compared to protecting them from this unpredictable world we live in. However, if I worded the statement a little differently and said “I’m protecting my three little men from skin cancer” it doesn’t seem so small anymore does it?
Why Coppertone Water BABIES®?
With three little boys, we are experienced with protection. Okay, maybe not THAT type of protection, but we are considerably acquainted with sunscreen for children. We currently choose to use Coppertone Water BABIES® for our three vivacious children who love the outdoors. We take our children camping and swimming frequently during the summer months and Coppertone Water BABIES® has not failed us yet.
Within the last two weeks we have stayed busy outdoors and in only one of my three children has any body parts that show any amount of sunburn. However, that was not the fault of Coppertone Water BABIES®, but dear ole’ mom instead. Just the other day the boys and I headed over to my in-laws to enjoy a day of swimming in their pool. Before leaving I liberally applied Coppertone Water BABIES® on all three of my boys. While rushing out the door, I accidentally left the sunscreen behind. We were outside for approximately 3˝ hours with the temperature hanging steady in the mid 90’s. My two youngest boys were using float rings and arm floaters to keep them afloat while my oldest was all over the place with no float assistance. He was swimming under the water often and of course wiping his eyes and face free of water each time he came up for air. Well…Coppertone Water BABIES® is good, but it is not capable of performing miracles. Dillion was blessed with a reddish pink face and small patches on his shoulders. Thankfully my biggest little man said that there was no pain from his minor sunburn.
Considering one child who has a reddish pink complexion (that is mommy’s fault) out of three with all of the outside activities we have participated in Schering-Plough Healthcare Products, Inc. has a sure winner in my opinion with Coppertone Water BABIES®.
The Important Stuff
Coppertone Water BABIES® is a sunscreen that is also recognized for being hypoallergenic and non-stinging. Protecting against UVA and UVB rays, your child is protected up to 45 times their normal sun protection. Coppertone Water BABIES® is available in with either SPF 30 or SPF 45.
Another major characteristic of Coppertone Water BABIES® is that this product is Waterproof. On the product label Coppertone states “ Waterproof to maintain effective sunburn protection for 80 minutes in water.” Don’t make the mistake and leave the sunscreen behind because then reapplying will be impossible and your child is the one who will suffer.
Basics
Coppertone Water BABIES® comes in several forms . In addition to the lotion formula we use, you can also purchase this sun block in spray, roll on stick and convenience packs.
The scent is the popular coconut fragrance that many sunscreens possess. I have noticed that initially when applying and directly after application the scent is strong but not overwhelming. As time passes the aroma fades and is less noticeable.
The lotion formula that we use is white in color and creamy in texture. I find the consistency just like that of a standard hand and body lotion that lacks greasiness, such as Jergens.
You can expect to pay in the ball park of $7.00 for a bottle of the Coppertone Water BABIES® at your local retailer such as Wal-mart or K-Mart. The bottle we have is a 10.64 oz bottle giving us 33% more free and was purchased from Wal-mart for $6.97.
Applying
Application of Coppertone Water BABIES® is simple. Apply it generously to children that are six months and older before exposure to sun. After extended activities outside that represent toweling off, (example: swimming) and extreme perspiration (example: tennis), you should reapply.
Warnings
Just as with any sunscreen the manufacture directs you to avoid contact with eyes and if skin irritation occurs to discontinue usage. Keep out of reach of children and do not use on children under six months of age unless directed by a physician.

What Does This Mommy Think Overall?
Between camping on the beach, boating at the river, swimming at the grandparents and visiting the park within the past two weeks, Coppertone Water BABIES® has impressed me more than any of our prior sunscreens for children. I am trusting this product to help me protect my babies from the harmful sun and the dangers it poses.
