| dramatist's Full Review: Copthorne Tara Kensington Hotel |
The Tara is a very large 'chain' hotel with one over-riding advantage for wheelchair travelers. Their accessible rooms really are, just that, accessible. Everything is carefully thought out - grab bars at the loo, shower seat, wheelchair height wardrobes, emergency call buttons, centrally controlled lighting, TV etc. Some disabled rooms even have hoists - the only hotel in London to have them on a permanent basis.Room service is excellent, quick and fairly priced. Breakfasts are mountainous. The hotel's taxi service is friendly and reliable for wheelchair users. The only slight downside is that my disabled room was a long way down a carpeted corridor - not the best surface for easy running in a manual wheelchair. The main bar was closed at lunchtime, even though it was Golden Jubilee Weekend Saturday - I thought that they were missing a trick there! However it is the best place I have stayed in in London for my purposes. If you are a wheelchair user, I thoroughly recommend it.
