Pros: it has helped, a little is all you need
Cons: not a cure
The Bottom Line: I would buy Cortaid again when I run out of this tube. It does the job even though the problem comes back.

| jo.com's Full Review: Cortaid Maximum Strength 1.0% Hydrocortisone Anti-... |
I had dry, itchy skin under my wedding band. The doctor said it could be from water getting under it; nickel leaking through or swelling of my finger. He diagnosed me with dermatitis and to get 1% Hydrocortisone.
I decided on Cortaid Maximum Strength Cream for no particular reason except that the active ingredient is 1% hydrocortisone whose purpose is to stop itching. The inactive ingredients are aloe Vera gel, benzyl alcohol, ceteareth 20, cetearyl alcohol, glycerin, isopropyl myristate, isostearyl neopentanoate, methylparaben, mixed fatty acid esters, polyoxyl 40 stearate, and purified water. I paid about $4.00 for a 1/2-ounce tube.
How did it work?
In the car I put this white, slightly medicinal smelling, quick absorbing cream on my finger. After a couple of days the flaky, scaly skin was gone though there was still some redness. I put my ring back on and continued putting the Cortaid under my ring and around it.
I'm finding that with time Cortaid is working faster for me. For example a few days ago I took off my wedding band to check and sure enough the area was red. I put on Cortaid and the redness cleared up almost immediately!
Cortaid hasn't been a miracle cure for me since the problem keeps coming back; however, it has helped in the short term
