I seem to be rash-prone. I'm one of those people who, for whatever reason, gets skin rashes occasionally. I also seem to be considered amazingly attractive. At least to the mosquitoes in the neighborhood. Suffice it to say, I'm sometimes itchy. And, I know that for most of these skin ailments, scratching will only make it worse, and lengthen the healing process.

So, I make sure I have plenty of products on hand to help calm the itching. It seems that all of the products on the shelves contain the same active ingredient - 1% hydrocortisone. So why are there so many products on the shelf if they're all basically the same? Well, some are creams, some are ointments, and some are sprays. Personally, it's all the same to me. I don't really have a preference for which type of product it is. As long as I can get some on my skin quickly.

But the last time I bought an anti-itch cream, I decided to try Cortizone-10. Because I liked the fact that it also contains aloe vera gel. I figured that would help soothe whatever skin irritation I was having.

Well, I'm very glad I did. Because this week I've been truly suffering with a particularly nasty skin rash. One that hurts, burns, and itches all at once. Having dealt with this type of thing before, I know it'll go away on its own. That I just have to be a bit patient, and for goodness sake, no matter what, DON'T SCRATCH!

So, I've been using Cortizone-10 for several days now. It says that adults can use it for up to seven days, three or four times a day.

As far as relieving the burning, it provides instantaneous relief. The moment the cool cream touches my skin, the burning subsides.

As far as the itching, that's not an instant relief, because the cream has to be absorbed, in order for it to work. Or at least, I assume that's how it works. All I know is that it takes about five minutes for the itch to subside. That may not sound like a lot, but when you're being tortured, it feels like an eternity.

I'm happy to report that when the itch relief does come, it is total. It feels like you're living in a whole new world! Because when you have severe itching, and you're trying desperately not to give in to the need to scratch, it's an all-consuming thing. You can't concentrate on anything else. So when you use this cream, and those five minutes go by, and you suddenly notice that you no longer have that compulsion, it's difficult to describe how wonderful you feel!

Furthermore, the relief lasts for hours. Pretty much right up until the time you're allowed to take some more.

So, I highly recommend Cortizone-10 cream for when you need relief from both itch and burn. It works instantly on the burn, relatively quickly on the itch, and it lasts for a long time.
