| trthomp's Full Review: Cosco 10-T36 Toddler Bed |
We purchased this bed for our 6 year old daughter. She never liked the crib, so we thought she might like something that resembled a grown up bed better. I brought it home and assembled it in about 20 minutes the first time. We have moved 4 times now, and it takes a little less time to assemble with each move :-)
When we bought this bed, the variety of toddler beds just didn't exist like it does now. Sure they had the big fancy house and car toddler beds, but they were almost $200.00, and way out of price range. It was pretty much this bed and the one with the rails attached.
The first time our daughter saw the bed, it had a brand new Winnie the Pooh toddler sheet set on it, and her favorite pink blanket. She absolutely fell in love!! She was around 18 months old, and only said one word at a time. The word of choice for the bed was "MINE!" We said yes, that it was just for her and nobody else. From that night on she slept in it.
When she was 4, she was as tall as the bed is long, even though she is short for her age. We decided it was time to move her up to a twin bed. This bed went into storage. I pulled it out about a month ago when we moved to San Diego, and our 2 year old now sleeps there.
Our bed is red. I feel that the design is sturdy. After 2 1/2 years of use, it was still in great shape. I was surprised that the only sign of age is a few scratches on the paint. I remember when I first put it together. It has plastic pieces that attach the tubular rails. I didn't think they would last long at all. I wasn't concerned since I had on paid I think $24.99, and some of that was covered by a gift certificate. Another thing I was sure would fall apart after awhile was the white pieces of plastic that hold the mattress support together. These also provide the bed with little rail type things to keep the mattress in place.
My fears about the quality of the bed have proven unfounded. I am planning for it to be around for our 9 month old when she is ready to move out of her crib.
