Ok, my almost-3-year-old daughter has a bit of an imagination. She seems to think that she is Superman. She even has a Superman outfit. (A blanket sleeper with a pair of underwear pulled over it) Along with the outfits comes Superman's super-stunts. These include jumping off the bed.
My daughter has had this bed since she was 13 months old, and it was bought as an alternative to having her sleep in my bed all the time. It took a day or two for her to get used to it, but she has been sleeping in it since. It is white, which is kind of inconvenient because it gets dirty very easily. It can be cleaned very easily though, with just a paper towel and some Windex.
The bed does not come with the mattress, that has to be bought separately. Be sure to buy a high-quality mattress, so this bed can last you a while. The bed does have a set of safety rails, but I think they could be greatly improved upon. For one, when you get the mattress into the bed frame, the rails stick up about an an inch and a half over the mattress. A child can easily roll right over this, mine has! And, the rails do not cover the entire length of the bed. If your child is a restless sleeper it is not hard for them to move down the bed far enough to roll right off the bed, not even hitting the rails.
Even if your child does roll of the bed, they don't have very far to fall. The bed is only about a foot off the ground. This makes it very easy for a small toddler to get off and on the bed without help. My daughter is very small, and this bed fits her perfectly.
Another major bonus- it was extremely easy to set up! I think it took my husband 30 minutes to get it out of the box and completely put together!
My main reason for recommending this bed is it's reliability factor. It is easy to clean, it is very sturdy, and it's looking like this will last me until my younger daughter is ready for a toddler bed! I have not had any problems with this bed, and it was the cheapest of all the beds I had to choose from!
