| anglynn's Full Review: Cosco 10-T41 Toddler Bed |
When my oldest son was 14 mos, I decided I wanted to look at toddler beds. Since a toddler bed is the same length and width as a crib, I knew I could still use his crib mattress and bedding, saving us a little bit of money. Honestly, I also thought he might want to sleep in a little bed more then a big bed. I thought a bed the same size as his crib would be less intimidating, not to mention a toddler bed sits low to the ground making it easy for a toddler to get in and out of it. There also isn't a long distance for a child to fall should they roll out of bed.
This bed is the perfect bed for growing toddlers and parents who want a transitional bed without spending big bucks. It is a very basic, white metal bed but looks pretty cute with a toddler bed set on it. It has mesh side rails on it and a rounded head board with three bars in the center of it. It is light weight and easy to move. The paint does not scratch and the bed has withstood a lot of weight on it(only supposed to put up to 50 pounds on it and I have sat on it with out bending it!)You child could do just about anything to this bed and it would take it!
Putting this bed together was not difficult. There are pre-drilled holes and the bed comes with all the necessary hardware to put it together. It also came with easy to read and understand instructions. My husband is usually the one who assembles things in our home and I assembled this item without any trouble!
When my son began sleeping in this bed at 19 months, he loved it! When we were transitioning him from the crib to his bed, we left the toddler bed without the mattress set up in his room. During nap time we would move the mattress out of his crib and put in on his toddler bed. He liked that the same bedding he used in his crib could be used in his bed. I think it made him feel more secure. In no time he was ready to be sleeping in his bed. He looked so cute and comfortable in his bed too. It did take me awhile to get used to him having the freedom of getting out of bed!
My son used this bed until he was 4 1/2 years old. At that point he was to be too big for the toddler bed and we moved him into his twin bed. Overall, I felt it held up pretty well for the 30.00 dollars we paid for it. The major complaint I have is the mesh on the side rails are not removable. After awhile dirt collects on it making it hard to clean. If the mesh was removable it could be washed and look much better!
If you are looking for a sturdy, economical bed you have found it. I really can't complain about it. There are nicer models out there, but for the amount of time toddlers use these beds I think this bed is perfect!
