| My3LilMen's Full Review: Cosco 10-T41 Toddler Bed |
We recently trashed this toddler bed and in all honesty we should have said goodbye to it a long time ago. The Cosco 10-T41 Toddler Bed was a poor buying decision on my part and I hope to help you avoid making the same mistake.
The Dilemma
Crib days have come and gone for all three of my boys for some time now. After the initial use of the crib each of my boys went into the Little Tykes Car Bed. It sat low to the ground and was perfect for their first bed after crib days. So why did I buy a Cosco 10-T41 Toddler Bed? Well, My youngest son still had claim on the Little Tykes Car Bed as he was just 2 years old. The older two had metal bunk beds that were basically military-style beds that were attached to form bunk beds for a college dorm. This military-style bunk bed caused us problem after problem and after my youngest son chipped his front tooth on one of the metal frames it was time to get rid of them for good.
So…the search for a toddler bed for my middle child started.
The Search
Searching for a toddler bed was difficult for me. I had two of my sons in tow when I went on my search. We first went to Target and there were NO toddler beds to be found. Then I decided I would go to Toys R Us figuring they would have a better selection anyway. I get their and the only beds they had in stock were the Car bed ($129) that we already own, the Yellow Volkswagen Car Bed ($129) which was adorable but just more money than I wanted to put in a bed that he would only use for approximately a year or two. Then the cheaper beds they had were made with the heavy durable plastic but they were also more expensive than I was hoping for. I wanted the standard metal bed that Cosco makes. They have many different models but they are all basically the very same with only some difference in the style. I finally went to Super K-mart where I located them. YES! I thought to myself, finally. Now I wish I had never set eyes on the Cosco 10T41 Toddler Bed and had selected one of those durable heavy plastic models I saw. We live, we learn and then we regret!
The Price
At the time I purchased the Cosco 10-T41 Toddler Bed I found the best part was the inexpensive price. The bed was regularly priced $27.97 but was on sale for $22.97. Now that was a good deal to me. I didn't want to put a lot into the bed since Dusty would likely not use the bed very long and would need to upgrade to a bigger bed within a year or two. I thought that $22.97 was a great bargain for this bed, but in reality I got just what I paid for.
The Size & Color Availability
The Cosco 10-T41 Toddler Bed is intended for you to use with a full size crib mattress with the minimum dimensions of 51 5/8 inches in length and 27 1/4 inches in width and thickness of 4 inches. The fit of a toddler mattress in this frame is perfect.
This toddler bed is available in bright red, blue and white. With a variety of colors, Cosco is aiming to please.
LightWeight & Portable
This bed is extremely lightweight and can be moved easily and quickly. My son was not happy with where we had placed it in his room initially and decided he wanted it moved. At the time he had not even turned four years old and he was able to move this bed on his own. While this could be a advantage for some, it could be a disadvantage for others. I know from experience that this bed can easily become mobile in a child's bedroom to help aide your young toddler in climbing to reach things that are out of reach.
Age Intended
This bed is intended for children age 2 1/2 to 5 years of age. I disagree with this suggestion because I would have placed my one year old in this bed with a bed rail. It sits rather low to the ground but to prevent falls of a really young child a bed rail would be an easy solution.
Dusty is a restless sleeper and he constantly tosses and rolls in bed. There have been many nights and mornings that I would go in to check on him and find him laying on the floor, still fast asleep. The bed sits so low to the ground that when he rolled out, he never even realized it. This is indeed a highlight for this product because every parent wants their child safe and the Cosco 10-T41 Toddler Bed is safe in this aspect.
Needs Improvement - BIG time!
The Cosco 10-T41 Toddler Bed is in need of some major improvement, BIG time! While it lasted for about two years it should have been replaced way before then. This bed is not durable and was falling to the floor for a while before we pitched it. Unless you are planning to use this product for only a month or two, expect trouble. This bed is not manufactured well and with just normal wear the bed becomes weak and wobbles. While you would think tightening the bolts and screws would help, I would urge you to not expect much and to also know this will be common practice the entire time you own this poorly manufactured toddler bed.
Bottom Line
We recently trashed Dusty’s Cosco 10-T41 Toddler Bed. I would not have paid one penny for the piece of junk at a yard sale and would not expect anyone else to either. My child deserved better and so does yours.
It is cute in appearance and inexpensive in price but it is also cheaply made. The main problem with the cute little Cosco 10-T41 Toddler Bed is that it lacks durability. In my opinion, this bed will be a waste of your money and time. You will only use it a short while and even considering all of the positives, I can’t convince myself that buying this toddler bed was a wise selection. I urge you to pay a little more and get a bed for your toddler that will last and not leave you tightening bolts and screws on a daily basis.
