| smurfytxmom's Full Review: Cosco 10-T42 Toddler Bed |
I have two children. Both are under the age of three. And both sleep in a Cosco Toddler Bed. My oldest (2.5yo) suddenly became absolutely terrified of having the side of the crib put up around 13mo. She started climbing out of the crib about the same time. So we went shopping...
We knew we wanted a nice LOW bed, with at least one bedrail, and we knew we couldn't spend a fortune. The Cosco bed hit the mark. Meagan loved her new 'big girl' bed, and though we had the usual temporary problem of staying IN bed, the transition went well. She's been in it a year now, and the only wear that can be found is not on the bed itself, but on the mattress. The bed would still look brand new if the mesh wasn't stained from grubby little hands. ;-)
Our son is 20mo, and just made his transition a few months ago. He too got a Cosco. His is blue with 2 rails, though, whereas Sister's is red with one rail. =) This one is holding up just as well as the first, which is really saying something, considering the wild tots that are using them. Both kids like to play "Hop on Pop", naming the bed 'Pop'. They also use the headboard as an aid for climbing the walls...or as a trapeze bar.
There is one thing I don't much care for on this bed though. That's the ease with which my tots can move it around, turn it upside down, and take the mattress off. The bed does have little mattress holders attached to the bed rails, but they only keep the mattress from sliding around, not from being lifted off.
Toddlers are known for climbing things, and for getting creative in what they choose as climbing tools. I really had hoped they would NOT be able to reposition their beds (or turn them over on top of themselves, which HAS happened) in order to reach a high shelf or dresser top. Even with this problem, though, the Cosco bed is a good buy. We paid $35 for one, and $30 for the other. Divide that out over the 2.5 or 3yrs they'll be used, and I think we did very well.
