The Cosco Alpha Omega car seat has been an overall great investment as far as safety and quality are concerned. I am expecting our second child in August and there for needed another car seat for either my daughter or my soon to be born son.
I have been trying to find a good toddler booster seat that would be able to grow with my children and this one has hit the mark. The Cosco Alpha Omega car seat is comfortable for my child to sit in, very safe, and easy to use. *I have not used it in the newborn position yet but when my son is born I plan on using this car seat for him and I will update the review then*
We are transitioning over to a five point harness system from an over head bar. I like the five point harness system much better. It is easier to place on and adjust and my daughter seems to enjoy the fact that it is not as confining as her old car seat was.
The Cosco Alpha Omega supplies you with a wonderful instructional video and a very detailed instructional booklet.
Easily Adjustable
The five point harness can be adjusted up or down easily from the back withouth taking out and having to rethread the straps. If you find that the straps are either to snug or too loose you can either pull on them to loosen them up (after you pull up on the red safety button) or you can tighten them by pulling on the single strap in the front (again, after you pull on the red safety button).
When your child is ready for a booster seat all you have to do is remove the base and the harness straps and the Alpha Omega is converted into a booster seat! There are three different levels of shoulder strap guides on the car seat already that make it easy for you to adjust the safety belt according to your child's needs.
When you want to use it for reclining it is easily adjustable with one hand if need be (we tried this out before putting it in the car).
Easy to handle
Another thing that I really do appriciate about the Cosco Alpha Omega is the fact that it is so light weight it is even easy for me, a six month pregnant lady, to carry in and out of the house. I also have no troubles hooking up the car seat and, unlike the previous car seat we had in the car, this one will stay snugly in the center of the back seat.
I keep it in the house when not in use in case I want to go out later with a friend or family member when my husband is at work and has our only car. It only takes me one minute to get into there and set up and it so far has fit in small cars and big cars just fine.
Easy to clean
The Cloth covering of the Cosco Alpha Omega makes it easy to clean up. All you need to do is spray some safe stain and odor remover and wipe away and you have a nice new clean car seat again.
Overall
Of course the Cosco Alpha Omega is a bit more costly then an average toddler or booster seat, but you get what you pay for in this car seat. It can hold from 5 - 80 lb., easily converts from one stage to the next and may really only be the one car seat you will ever need. When you put that into consideration and how much it costs for each kind of seat separately you realize that the price for this one in three item really is not that bad.
