Pros:goes up to 80 lbs.
Cons:too big to fit in car and move around
The Bottom Line: This seat may work well when the baby's bigger and turn out to be a good investment, but right now (8-months), it's too big and uncomfortable for the baby.
We bought this car seat as our third car seat. The most alluring aspect was that it would fit the baby from 5 lbs. to 80 lbs. The new California law requires kids to be in a car seat or booster up to 80 lbs.
But so far, we're not that happy with our purchase. The seat is very big and bulky. Even in the back seat of a Toyota Camry, it takes up a lot of space, especially with the pull-down restraining bar. Another problem is that our 8-month-old baby just does not sleep in the seat. In the other 2 car seats, an Evenflo Medallion Excel and Evenflo Trendsetter, the baby sleeps on almost every car ride. It may be because the restraining bar is in the baby's view or it may be because the seat does not recline very far.
The seat is not a 5-point harness as many of the car seats are. The Alpha Omega is a 3-point harness with the restraining bar.
