Let's face it . . . High Chairs take a lot of abuse from tiny tots to toddlers. But you don't need to spend a lot to get a lot! The Cosco Basic High Chair is certainly not the Cadillac of High Chairs . . . it's just what it's name implies - BASIC. But this BASIC high chair performs as well as the more expensive, yuppy brands.
The high chair seat and oversized tray are constructed of sturdy plastic that clean up easily with soap and water. The metal legs are designed to snap and lock in place and are easy to remove for those times that you take your high chair "on the road". Think about it . . . You're off to visit relatives with your 11 month old. It's Sunday dinner. Where to put Junior? Junior clearly needs his own space. Sitting on Mom's lap to feed is just not an option at this point in his "I wanna feed myself" phase of early childhood development. So . . . out I pull 1 seat and four legs from the car. Click, Click, Click, Click. Assembly complete. We're up and running. Junior is happy that he can feed himself, Mom is happy that her silk blouse does not have to be sent to the dry cleaners with that "mystery stain" from Junior's mouth, having used it as a napkin.
The only downside I see to the Cosco Basic High Chair is the seat cover. It's thin plastic that lacks sufficient padding, for those times that Junior is eating in slow motion. He may sit in the chair for 30 minutes. My personal preference would be a washable fabric cover with an attached padded seat cushion.
Overall, I am pleased with the minimal investment I had to make at a time when everything else I need to keep Junior dry, fed, clothed and happy costs so much!
