| tiffer0220's Full Review: Cosco Nod-a-Way Toddler Bed 10-B01 |
We have been through a few toddler beds in my house. When I came across the Cosco Nod-a-way Toddler Bed, I didn't have to think twice about purchasing it. I loved the design of it, I am quite familiar with Cosco, and this toddler bed was not too girlish or too boyish. It was just right.
As with all toddler beds out there, there is some assembly required by adults. The instructions were very easy to follow, and for once I did not have any left over pieces.
The Cosco Nod-a-way Toddler Bed also comes with side rails. They aren't the long side rails that you see in the store. I was a little concerned with these side rails. At first I was not going to attach them onto the bed, instead I would go out and but some longer mesh made side rails. After my son slept in the bed a few times, I decided to just stick with the side rails that came with the bed. The side rails are made out of heavy plastic, and if a child happens to toss himself into the side rail while sleeping, it could hurt. My son is a calm sleeper, so I wasn't worried about that. After I assembled the bed, I then learned that you need the side rails intact for support. So if you do not like hard side rails, then I would suggest another toddler bed.
The mattress support on this toddler bed is a bunch of iron poles. The poles are spaced out but they are still close enough to each other so that a child does not get his head stuck in between the poles if he happens to be hiding under the bed and wants to fool around. I know this from first hand experience. The toddler bed uses a standard crib mattress for a mattress. The mattress fits snug in between the head and foot boards. A snug mattress only means no more sheets flying off the bed during sleep, and no worries about if a body part will get caught between the mattress and the foot or head boards.
The design of the head board is a slanted sleigh design. It's an attractive design, but my only gripe with it is that when you place the head board against the wall, you have a small space between the wall and the head board. The feet of the head of the bed go against the wall, but the space going upwards between the feet and the top of the head board leaves an opening.
The Cosco Nod-a-way Toddler Bed has been very comfortable for my son. The recommended weight requirement for this bed is 50 pounds, but my 6 1/2 year old son isn't even 50 pounds, so I didn't pay any attention to Cosco's weight requirement. My 3 year old is just over 30 pounds, and if I wait until he is 50 pounds, I am afraid he will be too tall for the bed.
I have only seen this bed come in white. If you not happy with the color, you can always apply stencils to decorate the bed. Or your child may just decide to color with crayons on the head board and give the bed their own personal design. Even still, the price is not that bad where you will be devastated because of your child displaying their artwork. I know I was a little upset over it, but I got over it. The plastic is very easy to clean. Most dirt marks and even some crayon colorings come off with hot water. If you have pets, you may find dog/cat hair bunching up in the corners where the corners of the mattress lay. This can easily be removed by removing the mattress and just vacuuming the corners.
If you are in the market for that toddler bed to transition from crib to a regular bed, may I suggest this Cosco Nod-a-way Toddler Bed. It's affordable, very durable, and very attractive for either a boy or a girl.
