Pros:Contains SPF 22 and Regenerist serum
Cons:Sponge needs attention.
The Bottom Line: A nice creamy foundation with Regenerist Serum and SPF 22
I recently tried CoverGirl & Olay Simply Ageless Anti Aging Foundation. I tend to stick with a product that works forever but I had the opportunity to try this interesting foundation. My usual foundation tends to be messy to use, it's liquid and gets on my clothing or all over the sink when I go to apply it. The Cover Girl foundation is in a compact that comes with an applicator and is a cream like formula. It's a suspension formula that actually has Olay Regenerist Serum in it. That's the part that works on older skin acting as a texturizer and color equalizer.

The foundation is aA cream foundation, much better on older skin since older skin just longs for moisture. Because of the cream texture it doesn't settle into wrinkles or fine lines. It also softens and diffuses any age spots. It is fine for anyone suffering from rosacea or anyone who has sensitive skin. This foundation has been tested by leading dermatologists according to the packaging. I read that in the clinical tests it actually was shown to reduce signs of skin sensitivity.
I applied the CoverGirl Ageless foundation with the sponge included in the compact and found that it went on very smoothly and evenly. It felt as though I wasn't wearing anything on my skin but it looked as though my skin was dew-y and very even in tone. It held up well throughout the day. A plus for me was that it didn't irritate my skin. I can never put make up on my nose or forehead without getting break outs. CoverGirl is meant for sensitive skin and I had absolutely no recation to it, just as promised in the information I read.
The secret behind the creamy smoothness is a combination of waxes that melt at skin temperature. Tricky and amazing. This is what gives you the ultra fine layer of coverage without any dragging on your skin, it glides on. It was quite impressive.
It sells for a little $15.00 but there is the occasional coupon in the Sunday shinies. One for $4 should be in the April shinies. You can find it in your Walgreen's, CVS and Target stores. Unfortunately it is now up to $17.+ at CVS.
It comes in a complete range of color for the fairest skin to Afro American skin. I saw only 3 possible shades for really dark skin and I felt an even darker one would be good to add to the mix. I also found that at least three shades would have worked for me and the same applied to my daughter who is very fair. There was a warmer and cooler tone for each of us.
When you look at the plastic compact you will see a swirl pattern of off white material through the skin color. This is the waxy material that creates the cream affect. I thought maybe this is where the Regenerist serum is. The top of the compact opens for access to the foundation and the bottom opens up for access to the applicator. You can keep the sponge applicator in the foundation side and still close the compact. The foundation has no noticeable scent. I think that is a plus since scent can be such a personal area.
Just a heads up when using a sponge applicator you have the advantage of not getting hand to foundation contamination but you have to be sure to keep your applicator clean. You can wash it after a few uses or use the triangle sponges you can purchase at any store. You can also use your fingers but make sure your hands are clean to avoid contaminating the foundation.
So far, on my skin it's doing a lovely job. It has great staying power, I don't feel like I have any make up on, it's not heavy and after a full day in a hot climate it hadn't melted or run or settled into my wrinkles. I was really quite pleased with the application and wearability as well as the actual look. I would have to give this a roaring 10. Keep in mind everyone's skin is different and what I found wonderful may not please you as much but I think this is a very innovative foundation and very inexpensive and well as a very good foundation.
I felt this would be an appropriate review since I turn 65 today and am officially eligible for Medicare!
