I'm generally not a lipstick person, i'll occasionally wear it but I much prefer gloss or balm. If I do wear lipstick I prefer sheer, glossy formulas, as opposed to the full-coverage ones. CoverGirl did a great job when they formulated the TruShines, they're the perfect balance between balm, gloss, and lipstick.
CG TruShines aren't that special when it comes to packaging, they're pretty typical of CG's line. They come in a regular lipstick tube wrapped in a holographic material, with a clear-view top and the logo on the bottom half. If you're all about packaging like me you'll probably hate these...however the product itself makes them worth trying.
What I love about these is that when you apply them, regardless of the condition of your lips, they always looks great. Alot of lipsticks I have tried just accentuate dry areas of your lips and just look awful if your lips are anything less than completely moisturized. What I usually do with ones like that is apply balm first, I have done this with the CG TruShine's too and it works quite well with them for when you want a more sheer application of color, or just want a hint of tint with your lipbalm.
Don't expect these to be long-wearing, because they're not. Since they're on the glossier side, they do easily come off and you will have to reapply after eating or drinking, but to me that's no big deal. They're so nice and sheer that you could apply them without a mirror and not worry about mistakes, however you can build them up to make them more of a full-coverage lipstick, versatile they are.
They’re called TruSHINE for a reason, they have an amazing finish. When applied sheer, they have a light sheen to them which is perfect for a daytime look. When applied more heavily, the ‘true shine’ starts to come through and it’s like having a built-in gloss, so you don’t even have to use any. Not to say they don’t work well with gloss though, because they do, it just further intensifies the shine.
The shade I’m reviewing, is the shade I have and love, the only shade I have loved enough to repurchase time and again. Nude Shine, it’s the perfect YLBB color, which for those who don’t know is “your lips but better.” It evens out your natural lip color and adds a tiny bit of tint for a natural, not overdone daytime look or even a nighttime look.
If you want a nice, natural-looking lipstick that you can use day and night, try Nude Shine…you won’t be sorry, and your wallet will thank you.
