I have to admit-I'm not a teenager anymore. I came to this conclusion one day at the local Rite-Aide, while shopping for a new foundation. My old foundation had run out days before and I could no longer tip the bottle to get the smallest drop of cover up. Rite Aide was the nearest store and I needed some foundation.
My mission was simple-find a foundation that wouldn't leave those strange orange lines around my face and wouldn't cost a fortune. What I ended up buying was the very foundation that I wore throughout high school. I may have believed at one time that the pricier foundations with those well known names supported by the faces of of models made beautiful by deceiving layers of make-up, were better. Cover Girl makeup doesn't have that sort of reputation. It costs $4.99 at the absolute most. So while I searched trough Rite Aide for the perfect match of foundation to my skin tone, I was harassed by over-priced versions of foundation that promised such myths as "flawless skin," and the ability to look like a model prepped for a photo shoot if you wore it.
I chose Cover Girl Clean Makeup in a Creamy Natural tint. I paid $4.59 for a foundation that not only applied smoothly, but actually matched my skin. It was neither thick nor runny in consistency. A few dabs in various places on my face was enough to smooth on a nice base, without looking like I had any makeup on. Except, I did, and the faint signs of summer faded freckles and the early morning look of tiredness had disappeared underneath my Cover Girl Creamy Natural. The only thing that bothered me a bit was the smell of the Noxema inherent in this foundation. Sure it's good for my sinus ailments, but I just don't want my face to have that sort of scent.
My overall experience with Cover Girl foundation has been pleasant though. I've tried all the expensive foundations(I have a friend that is a representative of a well-known brand)but I fail to see any difference between them and Cover girl in their ability to transform me. In fact, Cover Girl may be more favorable to your face. I found that Chanel foundation was too liquidy, Clinique is good but you'll pay for it, and many of the other expensive brands probably spend their money paying those models instead of improving their foundation.
What started out as a search for a foundation in a hurry ended up with a return to the very foundation I had used in high school(along with 90% of all girls between 15-20). I was happily surprised that it worked so well as a base and am now on my second bottle. This time I caught it on sale for $2.99. I also chose the unscented version and there is no scent of Noxema fumes in this one. If you wish to give Cover Girl a try, you will most likely find it at your local drugstore or Wal-Mart type store. Cover Girl succeeds in providing an effective foundation for all women without promising to transform you into the next Cindy Crawford.
