I used Maybelline Revitalizing Liquid Makeup for years. Even before I used it, I used some other Maybelline liquid makeup that eventually evolved into the Revitalizing Liquid. You can imagine how devastated I was when they recently discontinued it. I hadn’t tried any other type of face makeup in years, and I didn’t know what else to use. I found some bottles of the Maybelline on clearance at a local drug store, and bought the last 3 bottles left. Of course those bottles are long gone now.
Now what?
I had to start looking for something new. I remembered the Cover Girl makeup my mom introduced me to when I decided to start wearing makeup. Cover Girl is good for teens because it is fairly cheap. I wanted to try the Cover Girl Continuous Wear makeup, but I was a little leary after trying Avon’s perfect wear. The Avon makeup dried in cakes on my face before I could get it all blended in. (I later found that it’s a good idea to apply it in sections.) Nonetheless, I was grasping at straws, and I decided to try the Cover Girl Continuous Wear.
Colors and Stuff
The makeup comes in a plastic squeezable tube. It stands so that the cap is on the bottom. No more shaking the bottle trying to get the makeup out on your finger. It just squeezes right out. It comes in a whole slew of colors. The only trouble I’ve had with this makeup is trying to find just the right color for my skin. Perhaps they have a few too many shades available. There is little variation from one shade to the next, and it’s hard to see what the color really looks like through the plastic container. There are small samples available in packs of 3 different colors. One can get about 2-3 uses from the sample. The samples seem like a good idea, but I’ve gone through 2 different sets of 6 colors that look close to my skin color. I’ve bought 3 different full-size bottles that I thought would be the right color, but either turned out too light or too dark. Currently, I am blending colors from 2 different bottles to get the shade that‘s right for me. I’m still hoping to find my perfect match in 1 bottle soon.
Application
Applying this makeup was easy. It was a lot different than the Avon makeup I had tried. I like to use a little extra makeup, and then blend it with a makeup sponge that removes the excess. I was impressed with the coverage, and how smoothly it went on. The directions on the container say to smooth it over the face one section at a time, but I didn’t even have to do that. It all blended nicely without drying before I finished the application.
Does it Last?
It’s called Continuous Wear for a reason. It goes on smooth, and lasts all day. It remains flawless throughout the day even in the Southeastern heat and humidity it is subjected to. The container holds 1 oz. I’ve been using 2 containers at a time. It has lasted me a couple of months already, and I still have quite a bit remaining. The cost is around $6 per tube, and the samples usually run about $1.28 per pack of three.
Should you try it?
Of course, not every makeup is for everyone, but I think Cover Girl Continuous Wear is worth trying. It’s inexpensive, and gives a flawless appearance. (If only I could smooth it on the rest of my body.) The only thing it is missing is sunscreen. Sunscreen would be nice, but it’s been raining a lot lately, so I can live without it.
