...at least that is my general opinion from the testimonials I have read, along with personal experience.
After trying several traditional mascaras and coming up unsuccessful, I opted to buy a clear mascara. I love natural makeup, so I gave it shot, being that it is colorless.
What I liked most about the clear mascara was that it gave my eyelashes some definition (my friend had noticed). It also thickened them to a degree. Both of these results I found perfect for a very natural look. It is also extremely easy to wash off - just wash your face with whatever facial cleanser you use and off it will go!
However, one observation I made while using it was that if I did not completely "clean up" the excess left on the lashes, that it would dry up white and stick to the bottom lashes (*Note: I am Asian, and Asians typically have limp, uncurled lashes, so perhaps Caucasians may not experience this). Plus, I noticed that my eyelashes felt heavier if I left it on for a while. For the most part it is light, but I definitely felt its weight on my lashes. Another thing I should point out is that it doesn't make your eyelashes "soft and full." Instead it makes them a little hard and pointy - as if you applied gel on your lashes (essentially, that's what you're doing anyway). It gives them a wet, but more defined look.
I tried applying the mascara to my eyebrows to try to brush them out better, but I found that to be a big mistake. I guess it's because I'm Asian (and Asians have longer eyebrow hairs than Caucasians) because when I applied it, the hairs separated and didn't improve the appearance of my brows; it looked a bit odd and unnatural.
Another thing I noticed was that when I would be nearing the end of my supply of the clear mascara, it would be somewhat difficult for me to get as much mascara as I needed on the applicator. Because the mascara is a gel, constant use would leave "holes" within the substance, thereby forcing me to swipe around the bottle to get enough of the mascara on the mascara brush.
Anyway, the bottle looks pretty cool - it has a silver handle (cap) and the rest of the bottle is clear. There's also a good amount of mascara that CoverGirl gives you - 10mL. I've found that just this one bottle lasted me a long time - about a few months.
Overall, I think this is a mascara better suited for females with naturally curled eyelashes. Limp lashes will not show a significant improvement. It is also good for people who have thicker, perhaps unruly eyebrows; it won't do anything to people with longer and less eyebrow hair. Nonetheless, it's worth a try for everyone.
