Pros:great colors, stays on, does not break in container
Cons:too many choices meaning more purchases
I wonder how many young women of yesteryear tried to copy the look of Bette Davis from the many films she starred in. Along came the song of the 80s mentioning her, one of my favorites as well.
I use Cover Girl Professional Eye Enhancers, 3-kit shadows. Do you think the professionals really use it? Maybe the idea is for the consumer to look professional once they apply the eye shadow to their eyelids.
Each change of the seasons means a trip to Rite-Aid to pick either a three or four pack of eye shadow. Depending on the selection and price I have purchased all sizes they sell. You can pick from all blues to some blue with gray colors, browns, purples and a mixture of colors. I have chosen #102, frosted daylight. This has a pink ice, fog and blue skies.
The price for the three was $3.99 with the four pack being $4.79. If at any time you are unhappy with your selection, return it to Rite-Aid and other drug stores do the same thing, for a refund and/or exchange. Rite-Aid also has a monthly rebate where you can save up to a few hundreds dollars if you choose to purchase all those in the form. The coupons are only at face value. Many grocery stores do sell cosmetics and will accept double coupons. Try skimming through some women’s magazines for coupons to Cover Girl products.
The trio is in a plastic see through case with an indent to flip it open. Inside is a slot for the little two-sided applicator to rest. One side is round and the other has an oblong shape with a tip to it. They are sold separately as well when you drop or lose this one, which usually happens to me. I have tried using a Q-tip to apply when I am without an applictor, and I prefer to purchase extra applicators/brushes.
I use the oblong tip to do the first stroke on my eyes and will use the rounded one for the second color. You get more of the eye shadow on the round one but I prefer the tipped one.
Very rarely will the compartment break or the colors break into pieces. This happened to me once when I tried to place it on a cabinet and missed. The container dropped to the floor and one color was gone. Good thing to purchase more than one in a kit.
The shades are to add color, contour and highlight your eyes or just to make sure they are not naked. It is best to apply prior to mascara. I have been known in my earlier days to do a swipe of eye shadow under my eyes as well. They have light shaded colors that do this well. It is mentioned on the back of the product page that an application tips page is included, mine did not make it to the package.
I chose the frosted daylight and by the looks of the colors it could easily work in the evening hours also. You could always wear one color during the day and add another color to your eyes for the nighttime look.
The choices in colors are as follows:
Cool – chilled grape, frosted daylight, moonlit waters
Warm – shimmering sands, shades of suede
Neutral - slates, sparkling wines
One of the main reasons I use Cover Girl Professional Eye Enhancers 3-Kit Shadows is the ingredients list not having lanolin. I am allergic to this, which tends to be in every product made. The main ingredients are talc, iron oxides and mineral oil.
Once it is time to remove the eye shadow, I take a Q-tip and dip it into vaseline and slide over my eyes. I do this mostly to keep my nice purple washcloths from getting ruined. Then I wash my face and get the rest off and top off with a facial moisturizer.
It is possible to achieve the look you want with choosing more than one 3-kit and interchanging the colors to make a more dramatic look. For years I only wore blue eyeshadow since my eyes are blue. For a brief period I even opted for the blue mascara and guess it was a good thing I blended in fairly well in Hollywood.
I now like to use the pinks, purples and gold toned colors for a fall look with casual clothes. I always like to do the same color eye shadow with the color of my shirt and match it with earrings for the color scheme.
