| cgjerome's Full Review: Cover Girl Professional Eye Enhancers 4-Kit Shadow... |
I've never really been a makeup kinda girl... until recently. Once I started going to work in the real world, I realized that my little makeup bag (which was actually created for the purpose of holding tarot cards) needed to get more use than at weddings and other special occasions. Digging out the eye shadow I hadn't used in months, I realize how much I love my Cover Girl eye shadow kit.
My color kit is called Candlelit Dreams. I chose it as much for the name as for the colors inside. I'm a truly hopeless romantic, and how could I ever pass up Candlelit Dreams eye shadow? Perfect for me!
The four colors included are called Rose Mist, Cameo Pink, Taupe, and Candlelight. Rose Mist and Cameo Pink are meant to be worn together, as are Taupe and Candlelight. Though the others leave little to the imagination as far as shades go, Candlelight may need some explanation: it's such a light shade of brown that it's almost white.
The colors work very well together. The browns (Candlelight for a base and Taupe for definition) are perfect for everyday wear. And the pinks (Cameo Pink as a base and Rose Mist for definition) are great for special occasions and going out. You don't have to go out and buy different kits for different occasions, because it's all there!
The brush included is double-sided, one end more rounded and the other more pointed. It's a pretty standard brush that holds up really well under normal use, even after I've dropped it in the sink and on the floor countless times.
The only thing I could've asked for was some "Eye shadow for Dummies" type instructions. If they can put instructions on the label of canned corn, they can put instructions on eye shadow. My mother never wears makeup, so I just guessed how to do everything. I was putting on a nice heavy coat of either Taupe or Rose Mist (the dark colors) and spreading it across my whole lid. I can't imagine what I looked like. Thank goodness for Mary Kay giving me my free "makeover" and instructing me on the proper techniques for applying eye shadow.
So if you need an all-purpose eye shadow, I'd definitely recommend Cover Girl Professional Eye Enhancers 4-Kit Shadows. And if you're fair skinned like I am, you may want to consider the Candlelit Dreams kit!
