| shan1's Full Review: Cover Girl Professional Eye Enhancers 4-Kit Shadow... |
Ok, maybe this is the WRONG category for me to be tackling. I am not a heavy make up wearer. Once I find a shade or color I like, I stick with it until they either A- discontinue it, or B- I find a shade I like better.
Basically, my makeup bag consists of 12 or 13 items, most of them eye shadows and blushes. I very rarely buy outside of the Colorworks line (sold at Sears), since it seems to work with my complexion.
But, one item that always finds a way into my make up bag is > Cover Girl Professional Eye Enhancers 4-Kit Shadows . The 4-Kit is one of the few *budget* make up items I have found, that appeals to me in quality, color, and the wallet.
What makes this a Shannie pick??
Simply put, the colors are gorgeous. I have very pale skin, and very bright eyes, so most eye shadows either look too dark or too washed out. I have spent many a hour mixing colors, trying to find one that won't overwhelm my fair skin. Since I AM so pale and my hair is dark, I am considered a cool skin tone . To be honest, I don't know much about this, but I know that, by sticking with cool and neutral shades, I can find colors that look good on me.
The 4-Kit is a selection of 4 complementing eye colors, ranging from pastels to browns. I stick with the watercolors (deep purple, dewy pink, aqua marine, and capri blue) and the Candlelit Dreams (rose mist, cameo pink, taupe, and candelight). The first set is more of a night time color and the later is more of a day time set. The colors blend together nicely, and look striking against green eyes.
The kit comes with a color chart, that shows where to apply each color on the eye area. (Darkest shades go on the lid, while the lighter shades are swept across the brow bone). Unfortunately, the colors WILL fade after awhile. But, if you put a bit of foundation on your lid before applying the eye shadow, they will * set better*. Meaning, they are less likely to fade away. I'm not the type who fixes her makeup every hour in the ladies room, so I make sure it's gonna last before I leave the house!
The 4-kit costs $2.99 for the 4 shades. I use mine once a day or so, and it lasts about 2 months. (To be safe, discard eye makeup after 6 months....to avoid a nasty eye infection). It is hypo allergenic, and contact safe...a BIG plus for me). It comes in 33 shades, and each kit does come with the application chart, as well as a sponge tip applicator.
I recommend this to anyone on a make up budget. I spend much to much on my Colorworks items, and its nice knowing you can still get quality makeup at a decent price. These eye shadows will go from day to night, just by applying them in different ways (ie...lining your eyes with them, or just putting them on the lid). Since they are a powder base, they glide on smoothly but, may sprinkle onto your face--blow off the brush before applying!
(Note: The cases ARE flimsy-- and crack easily. Make sure you keep these away from heavy items that may crack the case and ruin the eye colors).
