Pros: excellent selection of color assortments, reasonably priced, unusual color assortments that are hard to find
Cons: chalky appearance, light (although good for the natural look), need to reapply after several hours, case needs to be handled with care if putting in purse, applicator not the best

....could use this chalky stuff for the blackboard!
I have an extensive collection of makeup, as I constantly overhaul my appearance. Therefore, I need all kinds of palettes of makeup and eye makeup is important to me.
I used to use Cover Girl in the teen years, but later, as the quality declined (and after I read that they were the most dangerous on the ingredient side of things) I have avoided the company's makeup. The only thing I have really enjoyed using with great success is their color renewing lip stick.
When I saw these eye make up compacts in the dollar store, I thought that I would try them. I really liked the 4 color selections and the assortments were excellent.
Ever get a compact with 3 or 4 colors and none of them really GO together? Well, these do go together beautifully.
When it comes to eye makeup, I am generally a L'Oreal girl. I am used to the coverage and the shimmer of their brand.
When I tried the first color combo of the Cover Girl Professional 4 pack, I was a bit disappointed. The make up is very chalky. It does have a nice light look to it, however, so when I am going for a natural youthful look, this is a good choice.
Another thing I like about this series is that the color combos are unusual. There are some GORGEOUS pastel assortments. These look marvelous with a summer palette and either light brown hair or ashy blondes- it is very hard to find palettes of make up that look so stunning on summer coloring.
I am not crazy about the applicator. It is short and the pads are cheaply made. They are the kind to disintegrate easily after a while.
The case is also not made to hold up to a lot of abuse. If you are going to stick this in your purse, you need to have it in a small zipped bag that will not allow it to bang around a lot.
Finally, this make up will have to be re-applied after a few hours. If you are going out for an evening, you may get away with only one application, but if you want all day wear, you will need to reapply.
BUT for a dollar, I am not complaining. I have gotten more than my money's worth from this product. I HAVE tried WORSE eye shadow.
END NOTE
I do want to point out that because I purchased these at the dollar store, that there is a good possibility that the color selections were discontinued. I have not looked recently at the selections in the store, but at the time of purchase, they were available at drug stores. It has been some time since I purchased these compacts, so if you are looking for these specific colors, you may not find them any more. --C
