Pros: Shades are awesome, price, easy to open package
Cons: Limited color combinations, doesn't completely come off, stains clothing.
The Bottom Line: The bottom line is batting her eyes at Hubby. And it's working too.

| germank106's Full Review: Cover Girl Professional Eye Enhancers 4-Kit Shadow... |
A bad day at work means shopping for something pretty in the afternoon. And after my last experience with the Revlon eye shadow and the lipstick I needed lots of pretty things. So off to the store and into the make-up aisle.
I really couldn't justify buying another mascara and their selection of lipsticks is rather thin (plus I just ordered the Clinique metallic finish ones), so eye shadow it was.
I tend to use lots of taupes and brown shades and the most adventurous I ever got was the lilac I got from Clinique.
Change is good. I first saw a pretty blue shade by Maybelline, but when I tried it the color seemed to fade. But I liked the blue, just not the Maybelline one. I stayed away from Revlon and hit paydirt at the Cover Girl display. It took me a minute to figure out that their quad packages were the best deal, so I concentrated on those.
The first one I noticed was a collection of blues and greens called "Crystal Waters" (# 270). Shades in this container include:
Deep Ocean (matte) - really a pretty ocean blue, that shows up as a bluish gray on my eyes.
Blue Carribean (matte) - a bit lighter than the first one with a slight hint of green. Really makes my eyes pop
Misty Seas (sparkle) - should probably have been called "edge of the water on a tropical isle", a seafoam color that enhances or works by itself. It's really not a sparkling color, more like a soft shimmer.
Arctic Glow (sparkle)- This one really sparkles in a sheer off white, especially right under the browbone.
Of course one's never enough and after looking a bit more I found "Coffee shop" (#260). Coffee is good for the soul, so here are the four shades in this collection.
Mocha mousse (matte) - just like chocolate mousse only better. I can layer this for great effects.
Hot Cider (pearl) - Cider? No way guys, this is copper pure and simple and it does amazing things with it's pearlescent effects.
Caramel Kiss (matte)- this one's pure gold (literally) with a bit of a metallic sheen, yet it's a matte. Perfect for cat eyes.
Creme Fraiche (pearl) - has nothing to do with coffee, but it's an off-white with a hint of peach. Don't know what I'll do with this one yet, but I'll find something.
To make a long story short - I bought both of them. No coupons, no freebies and no sale. I can't even remember when I spend ten bucks for two quad packs and didn't get anything free. $4.92 plus tax for each.
The next day I went to work. Nobody's home so I can do a little experimenting. A little of this and a little of that - nah, let's start over. A bit here and a bit there, much better. These colors are interchangeable, can be paired or tripled or quadrupled or whatever and layer well for some real eye opening moments. Night time look, daytime restraint - it's all in one (or in my case two) small packages.
Packaging is simple by the way. The small container fits into the palm of my hand and while I have to pop it open, it's not a nail breaker. The top of the package is clear, the bottom blue and it even has an applicator which I immediately tossed in the trash. I love my brushes and those teeny tiny sponge sticks, just won't do. Total weight for each pack is .19 ounces. That's POINT ONE NINE NOT NINETEEN. Enough to have a few weeks of fun and then on to the next thing.
The colors go on smooth and stay on. I wore this all day yesterday and again today. Put it on before 7AM and 12 hours later it was still there. The Pearl colors had lost a bit of sparkle, but not all of it. I do put powder on my face before I put on eye shadow, so I'm not sure if they really last that long if you don't do that.
I broke out the magnifying lens to list the ingredients, but alas, I can't read it. The printing is so small and the contrast between the print and the label so bad, that everything just swims before my eyes. Here's the stuff I could read, but it's not complete.I have inserted "---" for each ingredient I couldn't make out.
Talc, Mica, Mineral Oil, Boron Nitride, Zinc Stearate, Dimethicone,Silicate DE, -----,---after that I can't make it out anymore. Sorry.
For under five bucks a piece, these are good shadows. They are not perfect, but they will do for my every day look and the colors I picked do enhance my eyes.
There are a few cons to this. I found only four different shade combinations and two of them were almost identical. So not much choice there. It is possible that bigger stores have more combinations, but not my store.
Cover Girl does test on animals, so environment friendly it's not.
I could not find any indication that this has been dermatologist tested. I did not get any tearing, itchy eyes or breakouts from this, but I have only used it three times. I will update this if I find that I am sensitive to this product.
Some of the shades (the sparkle ones) will only partially come of with eye make-up remover. The color will go, the sparkle will stay. So much so that Hubby asked me last night if I had a nighlight installed on my eyelids. Ha, ha, ha, very funny. I used another remover pad, but the sparkle was still there.
The biggest con - should you get these things anywhere near a white silk shirt, toss out the shirt. I accidentally got some on the shirt (don't know how) and washed it right away, but the stain was still there. Lighter but there. Maybe a few more washings will do the trick, but for now the shirt is history.
I will give this product three and a half stars. I know I have to mark whole stars on the epinions page, but keep that in mind. I will have to mark it with three stars, but only because I don't have another choice on the next page.
