| ifif1938's Full Review: Crabtree & Evelyn La Source Moisturizing Soap with... |
I've been a fan of Crabtree and Evelyn's delightful products for many years and the la Source line since I discovered them being used by the Hilton Hotels as their signature line of bathroom amenities. The first time I tried the hand and body lotion, the shampoo and conditioner and the lovely scented soap I was hooked. They feature Shea Butter which, since then, is my favorite choice of main ingredient in any kind of body lotions and soaps. I'm fortunate to have a store located not to far from my home so if, in the event, I run out of the hotels little "gifts" I can fill in with larger size products. Until my next stay at a Hilton.
A Bit of History
Since 1973 Crabtree and Evelyn has been making natural skin, body and hair care products using the finest ingredients inspired by nature. They wanted to make their products in the manner of the way early home remedies were concocted in the apothecaries of Great Britain, where rooms called "still rooms" held gardens of herbs and fresh flowers which they used to create the first of the famous line of Crabtree and Evelyn products. Soothing essences were used for the skin care line and waters were distilled using those flowers, herbs and, even fruits, which were used for bathing and hair care.
They were offering these products in the market place before the word "Natural" become a buzzword in the health and wellness industry, so popular for the past few decades.
At first it was just a family run business but eventually became the respected international company that it is today
Ever wonder where the name came from?
Well, a true 17th century Renaissance Englishman named John Evelyn was the inspiration for the name since he realized the priority of conservation back when the forests of England were practically being stripped of wood for the lumber needed to build ships for British Navy.
He used his estate, Sayes Court, to plant a vast amount of Elm trees and extravagant gardens filled with herbs and flowering plants which were considered a creative natural wonder of that time. His Crabtrees, otherwise known as Wild Apples, were used in many home remedies and apothecary uses and are famous for being first grown in Great Britain..now that fruit is the symbol of Crabtree and Evelyn.
Since our last stay at the Hilton in Palm Beach, where the young woman who made up our room was very generous and gave me quite a lot of soaps, hand lotions, shampoos and conditioners, I've been using them more often than I usually do. I must say I am completely in love with the La Source~Moisturizing Soap with Shea Butter and so is my hubby. It seems to go much further then the bar of Dial I always have in the shower/tub as well. And, doesn't get mushy in the soap dish.
The soap is triple milled to moisturize skin and truly makes my skin feel conditioned and soft, it suds up ever so nicely and doesn't leave a residue after rinsing. I use it on my face every day and it never leaves a dry feeling or that tight sensation you can get with other soaps. I also find that when my skin feels dry from being in the pool or out in the sun, the soap is really soothing. I love the clean fragrance, light without any strong scent. The Shea butter, makes your skin "feel like butter".
As I mentioned I usually get quite a few of the small sizes at the Hilton Hotels and have been known to raid the maids cart at times, so I don't often have to buy these products, but, when I do, I buy a box of the La Source Moisturizing Soaps in a box of three large sizes for $16.00 and they last a long time.
Caress your skin with Shea Butter; its a wonderful clean fresh feeling.
