| bubbajames's Full Review: Craftsman 10 pc. Professional Reciprocating Saw Bl... |
Having 6 different reciprocating saws, I use alot of blades most are good, some like these are not. I was taken in by the Professional label. Having owned some craftsman industrial tools, I figured these would be heavy duty items that would hold up to extreme use. The package yeilds Metal blades: 6 in. 18 TPI - (2 blades) 6 in. 14 TPI - (2 blades) 4 in. 24 TPI - (2 blades)
2 blades for cutting wood and non-ferrous metal: 6 in. 10 TPI - (2 blades)
2 blades for cutting wood: 6 in. 6 TPI - (2 blades)
None of these blades are 9 or 12 inches long. Thankfully, I got them on clearance. If I had paid full price, I really would have been dissapointed. The thickness is the standard .035 in thick. Nothing heavy duty there. By comparison, Milwaukee heavy duty blades are .042-.062 in thick.
Under heavy use, I found myself constantly having to rebend these blades as they bend upon hitting anything. The metal cutting blades lose teeth faster than a redneck in a baroom brawl. My Lenox blades outlast these for metal cutting 10 to1!
Interestingly, the only difference I see between the professional and standard line of craftsman blades is that the professionals are painted white and say Professional on the blade. The stanard line blades are identical, except they are black.
Real professional blades are made by Milwaukee, Lenox, and bosch. The Blu-mol Xtreme blades are good too, if you can find them. As for these, I would pass if your projects require heavy duty blades, as these aren't.
These blades are cheap, but they cost you time- Changing out worn/bent blades, attempting to bend them back into shape. More expensive blades will save you time and aggravation.
