Pros: Cordless saw is a dream.
Cons: Huge case -- really troublesome if you don't have lots of storage space.
The Bottom Line: Nice gift pack, if only because the cordless saw and light aren't things you'd buy for yourself. Extra drill is always nice to have.

| bowdidge's Full Review: Craftsman 18 volt Drill/Driver and Circular Saw Co... |
I got this Craftsman assortment as a gift for Christmas last year.
The best part is the cordless saw. I don't have a dedicated work area, so I either do my projects in the middle of the garage or on the back patio. With my standard circular saw, projects always seem to require too much setup time, and the saw seems like overkill for most work. I love the minimal setup time with the saw; it's been very handy for trim projects (although a circular saw's really not precise enough for trim work), and it's pulled me away from using a handsaw for many smaller projects. I'm not giving this saw up.
The cordless drill's fine, but I still love my ten year ol Makita driver drill. The 18 volt battery makes for a heavy and unbalanced tool; the 7.2 volt batteries in the old Makita may not be as powerful, but none of my projects (driving sheetrock screws, drilling with small drill bits up to 1/4") really require the full drill. I like that the drill has a clip for a philips bit on the side so it's always available -- it's one less thing to drop. I've been less happy with the keyless chuck; I often find I haven't tightened it enough, and the extra diameter it adds to the drill body makes the drill harder to manuver into tight spaces.
The light's been much more useful than I'd imagine; I've never had a dedicated work light (usually using a cheap clip-on light from Ikea) but this has been a lifesaver several times already.
My biggest gripe is with the plastic case. It's the size of a small suitcase, and its formed spaces for each tool spread the tools out through the case but don't give room for any other tools. The instruction manuals have their own slot, but I keep thinking they're going to disappear inside the plastic never to be seen.
