I don't have a full set of pin punches. In fact I have just one the Craftsman 1/8 X 4 1/2 In. Pin Punch.

The 1/8" is the actual circle punch point. It's flat and is used for driving pins. The only time I use this tool is when I'm pulling doors off their hinges. That's usually when trying to get a large item down our basement like another dryer or back up refrigerator.

I need extra room to get the appliances through so I use the Craftsman 1/8 X 4 1/2 In. Pin Punch to remove the pin from the hinges. This is actually a little small for that job considering the hinge pins are probably closer to 1/4". Even though this one is half the size, it does the job well enough.

This is a Chrome vanadium steel tool that is hardened through a double heat-treated process for durability. The finish is all a chrome color.

Over the long years I have owned this small tool. It has never failed me. I have to admit, there's nothing too complicated about driving out pins or a bolt.

My punch now has rust on the handle edges. Some steel wool would bring this right up and a dash of WD-40 would keep it in better shape. I know this tool carries a lifetime guarantee but I don't suppose I will ever have to return this tool because it broke. Unless I use it as a pry bar. It's not going anywhere.

I have struck the tool with a hammer many, many times as it should be and I can't see a ding or mar on it. It does the job and if I don't use it to pry anything it should last forever.
