Pros:Powerful engine, engine starts easily, single lever for adjusting mower deck height.
Cons:Mower deck gets stuck easily in uneven ground, doesn't back up easily.
The Bottom Line:
Disappointed that the minus outnumbered the pluses from a product that you could trust.
After purchasing the Craftsman 725 Series Self-Propelled Mower 22” Multi-Cut, model number 917.370920, in June 2102, I just had to write this review because it was in the shop the following year due to a broken drive control cable.

While there are a few pluses to this mower, the negatives certainly out number them. Let's take a positive look at the mower first. Engine starts on the first or second pull, powerful engine, single lever for adjusting the mower deck height, easy conversion for mulching, to side discharge, to a grass catcher, and maybe the water washout feature, more on that later.
Now the negatives, this may take some time so you might want to get a coffee before you start reading.
On changing the oil, which I like to do every 10 hours or so, and/or cleaning the underside of the deck from grass buildup, make sure that the gas tank is near empty or the gas will leak out of the cap and render the carbon filler cap useless for the emission control feature.
On the water washout feature, which did sound beneficial, comes with a warning. While the engine is running make sure that the water from the hose doesn't come in contact with the engine, which then could shorten the life of the engine. Needless to say I didn't use that feature because of the possibility of shortening the engine life.
If you have anything but a perfectly smooth and level lawn you'll have problems with the deck getting stuck and/or the wheels won't provide the power needed to move the mower. So you'll then have a push mower and that wasn't the reason why you bought this to begin with.
Which brings me to the next problem, half the time you have to drag the mower to go in reverse because the rear wheels lock up. Unless of course, the drive control cable breaks then you won't have that problem.
As far as changing the blade, replacing the drive belt, or any of the other maintenance concerns goes, I couldn't tell you owingto the short time I've had it, that part of the machine didn't wear out. Nevertheless, after looking at the owner's manual you'll have your work cut out for you.
Would I recommend this product? Most definitely not, but that's just one couples opinion.
