Pros:Many uses and spinning sockets.
Cons:The ends will spin while you are using this.
The Bottom Line: I can't recommend you running out and purchasing this unless you have only one particular job that you will need this on. You can't use this on all applications.
If you are looking for a Craftsman tool that is multi-function tool, this might be the one for you. If you are a fanatic such just like me, then you will love this little Dog Bone Metric Wrench by Sears and can also be found at K-Mart for only $19.99. You used to be only able to find these at any Sears, but since they have merged with a whole bunch of different store such as K-Mart and Ace Hardware the availability is tremendous. The prices and warranty still remain the same. If you were to purchase any Craftsman product at any of these retailers, you will not need a receipt just take it back to the store and they will replace the product.
Description This is made of chrome plated mild steel to prevent rusting. Each of these sockets that are locked in place with a pressed in pin on each end, and are shiny and have the size etched on the side of each socket. Each of the ends of the tool have a spinning star wheel of four different size sockets that are permanently attached with the size and held in place with a pressed in pin. You will get eight different sizes and they are: 12mm, 13mm, 14mm, 15mm on one end, and on the other end you will get 16mm, 17mm, 18mm, and a 19mm size socket. The whole tool has a polished shine to it and is very easy to clean. The ends are supposed to spin around to the size that you will need to do your job. They should slightly lock into place so that it will not move around to easily while you are trying to use it. The other nice feature that this has is the fact it has a strong magnet built into this tool
Experience This is an excellent tool to keep inside of the top of your tool box. All of these sockets together weigh less than one pound. There is no room for you to use this in tight spots. That is the only problem with this tool, but problem can be solved by only using this tool in certain applications. Don't expect too much from this tool and you will be happy that you spent the money to get it.
I have been using these for several years and not one time did these ever break or strip. They are made of hardened steel and are very durable. I have left these under the hood of the car accidentally and started the engine up and heard a rattling around, when I found them they had some scratch on them from hitting the fan blade, but mainly still intact. If you are using the right size these will usually fit snuggly into the hex head of the bolt without any slop. You will need to make sure that you have enough room for the head of the wrench to fit into the spot where you are trying to use this.
The really nice thing about this tool is that it does do several tasks but, basically the clearance for the head of this tool is very important. You may rarely use this tool, but when you do happen onto one of these types of heads, you will be happy that you have one of these tools inside of your set. This is probably the most used part of my tools because it is so handy and versatile. A lot of times I do not have time to go through all of my full size socket drawer looking for the exact size, instead I just grab this little tool which has an assortment of different sizes of sockets and as long as I have remembered to put it back where I usually keep it I have all I need to make a repair. This tool is only versatile to an extent because of the room that you need to make this work properly. I have had some problems with the sockets spinning to freely while in use. Plus, the socket ends are not very thick walled and I worry about cracking the end with the pressure that I put on the wrench. So I have to be very careful when I use this. Whereas, if I use a regular wrench I can apply as much pressure and not worry about slippage or cracking the end of the wrench.
Conclusion This is not a bad price for a versatile tool as this one. You will be surprised at how much you will actually use this tool. Just because it is so easy to grab this instead of searching for the right socket and making sure that you do not have to go back and search again if you are wrong. Three stars for durability and versatility and ease of use. But, I would not rush out to buy this tool unless you are just looking for a new shiny toy. You will be better off just sticking with your regular metric wrench to do your jobs.
