Pros: On-board eq, sound shaping, and digital effects. Small. Rugged. Powerful volume. Overall value.
Cons: Med to high frequency boost creates noticeable speaker hiss.
The Bottom Line: Once you get past the 'hiss' issue, you have a terrific, versatile, and very loud little amp that performs very well in all types of musical settings.

| klynam1's Full Review: Crate Acoustic Ca 125d |
Looking for a terrific combination vocal/instrument amp with on-board effects for small venues? You found it in the CA-125D. Looking for a great stage monitor that cuts through with nice sound shaping control and clean line out signal? Again, the CA-125D is your amp. Looking for flawless, professional sound reproduction for touring and recording with your $3K+ handmade acoustic guitar? Keep looking. The rest of us will take the Crate CA-125D's all day long for $250-350 from eBay and pawn shops.
The control knobs are small but rubberized for easy gripping. The grill panel is easy to remove and replace. Good long power cord. Big thick rubber feet - four on the bottom and two on the rear bevel for angling the amp on stage - and they don't slip. All three speakers (two 8" drivers and one piezo tweeter) are isolated from the amp in a sealed lower compartment.
The sound is exceptionally nice and very true to your guitar's output. It's surprisingly loud for the size and speaker configuration, but it looses character some when pushed hard. Most users note the "speaker hiss" when boosting hi-frequencies - though the line out signal is quite clean. Careful eq adjustments and better quality acoustic pickup systems will minimize this.
Overall, it's a solid and very versatile amp for the price.
