| katopasna's Full Review: Crayola Bathtub Finger Paints |
Not too long ago I bought some Crayola Bathtub Finger Paints for my daughter to play with. I remember reading about bathtub water tints and paints on Epinions so when I saw these at Target for under 5 bucks I couldnt resist
I should have resisted..
In this pack of paints, you get 4 tubes of paint with the following colors.. Blue, Pink, Purple and Red. They total about 5 oz of paint all together. From looking at it Crayola Bathtub Finger Paints look like a great find. Boy was I wrong.
After removing one tube from the plastic, I accidentally pulled the entire top off and squeezed some funky paint onto the tub. It might just be me but I was disappointed at the thickness and color of this paint. It just didnt resemble paint at all. It looked like pink jelly. My daughter then proceeded to make swirls with it and you could barely see it. You could see thin lines of color and that was it. I am used to the finger-paints that look and feel like paints with VIBRANT color. Again, it could be that it is like this because these paints are supposed to wash off easily with no problem. I dont know..
I mentioned earlier about accidentally pulling of the entire top
Well it seems there is a cap you pull off then you pull the top out, like a bottle of dishwashing liquid, except much, much harder. You just can't really tell there is a cap since every part of the tube is the same color. That is probably a good thing so your little ones cant get into that easy.
Would I recommend these paints to friends? Nope! I really expected more from the Crayola name. I can say that it was easy to rinse these paints off the tub and tiles in the bathroom and they didnt stain either. They also claim if used properly they wont stain towels or linens.
What my daughter thinks... I don't think she really cares about the color, or that they are non toxic or that it is by Crayola. She seemed to like them but I think she would like any substance that I put her hands into to rub all over a surface she otherwise wouldn't be allowed to.
Crayola Bathtub Finger Paints are non toxic and recommended for 3 and over (my daughter is two but with supervision I decided it would be okay). It is not recommended to use these paints in older tubs or showers that are in poor condition. They may also stain porous surfaces like unsealed tile grout. Technical Stuff: These paints are certified AP and conform to ASTM D-4326.
