| Lisa_J's Full Review: Crayola Bathtub Finger Paints |
Crayola Bathtub Finger Paints were given to my youngest child as a gift. Considering how much she likes the Crayola Bathtub Crayons and art projects in general, I thought she would really like the tubes of finger paints. We weren't impressed. It isn't as though my daughter loathes them... they just don't work as she expected. She used about half of the contents before we gave them to a younger (4-year-old) friend, along with some remaining tub tints that she wasn't using.
Product Claim:
"Crayola Bathtub Finger Paints can be used to create fun bathtime drawings on your child or on the bathtub. Kids will eagerly paint, doodle, and play games with the colored finger paints, but more importantly, bathtime has never been so much fun! Crayola Bathtub Finger Paints wash off easily."
The package that she received contained 3 - 1.25 oz plastic tubes of Crayola Bathtub Finger Paints: Orange, Blue and Red. These finger paints are Non-Toxic and recommended for children 3 and up.
The tubes are clear plastic, have a lid that lifts up, with a small hole for dispensing. These tubes are a nice size for little hands to hold. However it is my view that younger children may have a hard time squeezing out the contents. My daughter, 9, was able to squeeze out the desired portion. She placed a glob of finger paint onto the bathtub wall and made designs in it. She seemed to enjoy intermixing the colors and making simple designs. Also, she tried the finger paints on her arms.
The consistency of these paints reminds me of a thick hair gel, rather goopy. The paint has enough thickness to stay - for a small period of time - in one spot on the tub wall (or your childs body), until he/she smears it around.
The coloring is disappointing, as it lacks luster; it is pastel. It is our view (my child and I) that the colors appear much more vivid in the container than when in use.
The Crayola Bathtub Finger Paints are easy to wash off of the tub walls and they rinsed right off of my child. Further the paints didn't stain the tub surface, my child, nor linens. Importantly, the paints didn't cause any skin irritations.
Overall these paints just didn't spark the interest that I thought they would, therefore I wouldn't purchase them again. However I am told that the little girl who we gave them to, really likes them... but that her mom had to squeeze the paint out of the container for her and that the lids broke. All things considered I feel that there is room for improvement with these finger paints and I will refrain from recommending them. My child and I recommend the Crayola Bathtub Crayons.
