| Lisa_J's Full Review: Crayola Bathtub Tints - Jumbo Jar |
For her last birthday, my youngest daughter was given a lovely gift bag assortment that included a lot of bath & body products, including a Crayola Bathtub Tints - Jumbo Jar. The tablets are easy to use, provide a colorful twist to bathtime fun, but are most enjoyed by young children (not 9 year old girls). My daughter used them a few times, thankfully without any irritation (her skin can tend to be sensitive at times), but we ended up giving the jar to a friend (4 years old ).
According to the packaging, the 2.1 oz jar contains approximately 60 "Fizzy water coloring tablets!" These Non-Toxic tablets are recommended for ages 3 and up. Although the container suggests that this Jumbo Jar contains orange, purple & green colored Diamonds, Stars & Hearts, our jar contained Purplelike and Pinklike colored tablets.
As indicative by the product name, the tablets in this jar are intended to tint the bathtub water. After filling the tub, my daughter plopped a tablet in and watched as the water tinted. The tablet sinks to the bottom of the tub and a fizzlike action occurs. Although I never timed the process, it is quick. She used the pink appearing tablets, resulting in a pastel pink tubful of water. The color lasts the duration of the bath. Importantly this tint never stained linens, the tub, nor my child.
It is my view, as mentioned in the opening paragraph, that these tints are most appreciated by the younger crowd. My daughter had previously used tub tints that she received with the Crayola Bathtub Crayons and was much more impressed than this time. However her little friend, 4 years of age, adores these tints and they have become a mainstay in their bathroom.
A minor concern I have is that the packaging suggested that the jar contained a different color combination than what we received. I suppose that wouldn't matter to most, but felt it worth mentioning. Perhaps the manufacturer erred? Or... maybe the jar contents vary? Because the interest factor was low, we will not purchase these for use in our home. However I will consider adding them to a gift bag for little ones 3 - 6 years of age, because young children like bath goodies and -- importantly -- the product was used without any irritation.
I would use caution when storing Crayola Bathtub Tints around young children, as the tablets offer the appearance of candy. If the child likes candies -- such as sweettarts -- these might appear appetizing. Although the tablets are non-toxic, I wouldn't want a child to attempt eating them. Also, they are small, therefore presenting a possible choking hazard. And of course... please don't leave any child unattended in the tub!
