The Riva TNT2 Ultra is no doubt my favorite 3d card. It's fast and real cheap. You can buy this card for about 100 dollars right now. If you are looking for a great card for a low price then I recommend this card. I've got it on my pentium 3, 667 (64mb ram). It runs beautifully on Half-Life (which is my favorite game). I tried the game without the 3d card, and the game ran in a maximum 800 x 600. The frame rate was real bad. I had to change the resolution to 640 x 480 to run fast. And it was very pixelated. But with the card I could play the game at 1024 x 748 resolution at a extremely fast frame rate (an average of 80 frames per second)! And even better there were so much pixels that you could'nt even see them (which made it real clear and beautiful). This 3d card is the current one that I'm using and I'm still get amazed at the graphics! But if you have plenty of money to spend then I recommend that you get at least a 32mb card!
