With all the video cards out on the market, consumers are faced with a pretty tough choice. Do I spend the 50k on that nice card, or get this decent card for $.25? Well, those haslles are over my friends. Thanks to nvidia, we now have the TNT2 Ultra.
With 32megs of sdram pumping through its veins, memory is not an issue with this card. It can handle any video size you throw at it and still pump out 32 bit color. The frame rates are exceptionally high for the quality being produced as well. I run it at 1024x768 32 bit color at 120 mhz on my 21" Hitatchi. This seems to work VERY well as you can imagine.
Installation is a snap. Plug the card in. Plug the monitor into the card. Turn on Pc. Put cd in drive. Click ok a few times. Reboot. Done. Now on a little more technical side, the drivers provided on disk by Creative, are not the best. They have a little trouble working well with DirectX7.0 (by the way, directX 7.0 likes to overwrite drivers.. beware)and there is a MAJOR flaw in the video out. If you are watching a movie using the video out, and your powersaver feature comes on, you are looking at a full reload of the graphics card and all its software, including deleting things out of registry. Not pretty, and I am VERY sure Creative Labs is working on it. Now there are free drivers out there that were created for Quake III that work MUCH better, and support auto sensing video out formats.
Back to english for all you quasi-techs, this card pumps out incredible performance. I was getting frame rates of 60 fps in 1024x768 in quake2. The video out is crisp and clear, and easy to turn on and off. "So easy a kid can do it"
Overall, this is a no-brainer buy for those that want max bang for min bux.
