I recently purchased a TNT2 Ultra card primarily because I wanted to play the QuakeIII demo and it required a 3D accelerator card to run :) I was upgrading from a Number Nine 16MB AGP card and wasn't sure which of the many 3D cards to try. I asked several of my Quake buddies and that wasn't much help, always so many varying opinions that it was still a split between the main competitors.
So I went to http://www.tomshardware.com/ and a few other hardware review type sites (no, I didn't even bother looking at any of the PC magazines, yucky) and still there was no real clear choice on which one to get, but I narrowed my search down to a Voodoo or a TNT.
I picked the TNT2 Ultra 32MB AGP card from Creative Labs based mainly on price, it was a bit cheaper than a comparable Voodoo card. I've been more than pleased with the card and didn't realize what I was missing!! QuakeII was like a whole new world with this new card, the graphics were crisp and clear! I never realized how nasty it really looked because I had never seen how it was intended to actually look. I immediately got the QuakeIII demo and ran it and the graphics were amazing. I've played a few other 3D games with it and all of them work really well, but QuakeII is my main addiction.
My only complaint is that in QuakeII you have to do a lot of tweaking to get things to look just right with the TNT cards, but that's not nVidia's fault, it must be something about QuakeII because I haven't had that problem in any other games.
