For the money, you can't get a better deal.
1. 40 gigs. firewire AND USB connectivity. Firewire transfers around 400mbs while USB (1.0) transfers around 11mbs. When using firewire, you really get superfast transfer rates.
2. super sound quality. 98db signal to noise ratio. If you use better headphones, it's impressive fidelity.
3. you can record with a powered mic directly into mp3.
4. while buggy, the software is incredibly easy to use.
5. it can hold ANY file, not just mp3. It's a portable firewire/usb harddrive.
6. pitch control. Speed up or slow down audio.
7. lots of settings and special audio effects. They're fun to play with.
8. Amazing battery life. 11 hours with the included battery. You can add another battery (inside the player without any extra bulge) for ANOTHER 11 hours.
Overall, it's unbeatable.
