| infocat's Full Review: Creative Technology Nomad Jukebox (32 MB) MP3 Play... |
I love my Nomad player and I doubt I'll ever want to go back to my old portable CD player. All the great things you hear about portable MP3 players are true, they're very small, they don't skip, the sound quality is great, and you can customize your MP3 songs in any way you want. Absolutely wonderful for jogging!
The Nomad is a top quality MP3 player, one of the smaller players on the market and cased in silver magnesium, giving it a solid, futuristic look. I haven't dropped it or anything and I don't plan to test it myself, but I have a feeling it is quite sturdy. The Nomad comes with a FM radio and digital voice recording which can be really handy for reminders to yourself or, if you're a student, class lectures.
The package includes 2 AAA rechargeable batteries which gives you about 8 hours of playing time. There is also a "docking station" which allows you to leave the Nomad attached to the parallel port on your computer for easy connectivity and battery recharging. The downloading is pretty quick, approximately 12 seconds per MB and you can use your computer to do other things while it's downloading. The player has a flip-open slot for a 32 MB flash memory card. Together with 32 MB in the player, this gives you around 60 minutes of music. You can download either MP3s or real audio files.
The sound quality is crisp and clear, even with the supplied headphones. And it really does not skip while I'm jogging or working out at the gym! My friend did suggest that I wait to buy the Nomad II and I probably should have investigated, but this one is cheaper and it does meet all my needs. Even if the technology changes quickly, I'm sure this will be all I need for awhile.
Enjoy!
