Look at all the hype about MP3 players! They are small, intelligent, and soundful. But how do I choose which MP3 player is the best? I personally purchased the Nomad 64MB version from Creative Labs. The player is simply amazing, the sound quality is great, the size is small, and the FM tuner is a nice extra.
Letˇ¦s start by the time when I got my player wrapped in a nice gift box.
I purchased my Nomad 64MB player from buy.com.
After 2 days of making the order, the player was shipped to me via Purolator.
I unwrapped the package, and saw the nice gift box the Nomad 64MB has.
I observed and enjoyed the gift box a while, then I unwrapped it.
Inside the box are the following items:
- Nomad Mp3 Player (32MB)
- Removable Flash Card (32MB)
- Ear bud (Cheap one)
- Docking station
- 1 CD containing software and driver
- 1 CD containing MP3 music
- 1 Installation Manual
I quickly took out the player, and found there are already 2 fully charged batteries inside. So, knowing that I am ready to listen to it, I plugged my own ear bud (Panasonic) into the Mp3 Player, and listened to the demo song included with the player. The sound of the player is impressive, it is nearly identical to a CD Player.
After hearing the demo song, I read the installation manual. The manual is well documented, I soon found myself successful in inserting the 32MB Flash memory into the Mp3 Player, which means I am now equipped with 64MB of memory.
After inserting the memory, I took the docking station to my computer room, plugged it into my computer port, then inserted my Mp3 player into it.
The docking station automatically charges more electricity into my batteries.
I installed the software in 5 minutes without much difficulty.
After the installation of the software, I immediately downloaded some songs from my computer to the MP3 Player (128KB/sec)
I have been enjoying the great music coming from this player, that is, until one day my sister fell the player onto the ground.
The outer case of the player looked fine, however, the player occasionally hangs now when I listen to my music (it hangs once or twice a month)
The FM tuner of the player is better than the FM receiver in my house, I was surprised.
The voice recording feature is useful to record conversation.
With all this nice extras, and the mini size of the player. It surely is a great choice for everyone who is considering to purchase a MP3 Player.
However, I strongly suggest you not to drop the player on the ground!! Once you drop it, you will regret it!
More Breakdowns of the player:
1. Sound - One word, Impressive. This mp3 player is exactly like a CD player in terms of its sound quality.
2. Size - This player fits into my jean's pocket perfectly.
3. Ear bud - Like all other players, the ear bud sucks.
4. Transfer - The transfer is fast enough for me. It usually averages at around 128KB/sec, however, sometimes it may go up to 250KB/sec.
5. Software - Easy to use. However, you can only transfer one song at a time.
6. Storage - 64MB, enough for normal users, but for users who want more than 1 hr of music, look for other players who have 96MB of ram.
7. Style - It looks the best out of all other mp3 players, very high-tech design.
8. Installation manual - Very easy to understand, and is equipped with pictures to guide you through the steps.
9. Car adapter - The car adapter is NOT included with the player, however, you can purchase it through most of the audio stores in your area. This player is fine for listening in the car, but the volumn maybe a little bit too low for average users.
10.Equalizer - It includes 5 mode of equalizers, but none of them sound different to me, they all sound the same.
That concludes the review of the player.
If you can wait, I suggest you to get Nomad II instead.
