Pros: Just about everything
Cons: "Shuffle" function doesn't randomize really well (track number 1 is always played second, and doesn't go through all tracks without extensive listening)

| jkallman's Full Review: Creative Technology Nomad Jukebox (32 MB) MP3 Play... |
While looking to buy an mp3 player late last month, I looked over quite a few opinions about the Nomad. Most, if not all of these were positive, but nothing prepared me for the awesome ability of this player.
Let's start with the size, it is very small. It has the length and width of a credit card, and could probably fit into to your wallet as well. It is only about half and inch thick! I love it because I can put it into my pocket and just walk around all day without having to worry about it falling out, or whatever else. In addition, I don't know how many cargo pant fans are reading this, but the headphone cord is so long that I (about 6'6" tall), can put it in the lower pocket of my cargo pants and walk around with it down there all day. Upon further review that is kind of unnecessary information that you probably didn't need about me, but oh well.
The clarity of the player is also great. As with most other mp3 players of worth, there is no skipping (duh), but the sound is so full and clear that it makes listening a great experience. It also has the capability of getting very loud, I have only ever had the volume up to between 3 and 5 for normal listening. On some of the reviews I read before buying, the quality of the headphones were questioned. I haven't had any reason to question the headphone quality. Even though they are the in-the-ear type (which I don't like as much as over-the-head models), they produce great sounds at all frequency levels, from low bass to high squeals.
The charger unit is great also. It is a parallel port interface, which is perhaps a bit slower than USB (but factoring Windows inability to handle USB effectively the time difference is less than the frustration level). However, I can still get from empty to full in about 15 min. It charges the unit fully in less than the 90min described in the book (I found it to take about 60 to get charged after listening all day), and I haven't yet run the batteries all the way down (they say 5 hours, but I think its more).
The interface software is great. A two window system where you just select the songs and hit "Download", its great. You can view the on-board memory and flash card separately, so you know what songs are where. I can get about 17 songs on mine (128kbps, 44hz, basically normal mp3 values), so its not any decrease over a CD (of course this does depend on how good the quality is, 17 songs at the above values).
All in all I think its a great unit, and would definitely recommend it.
