| joeconsumer99's Full Review: Creative Technology Nomad IIc (64 MB) MP3 Player |
I wanted a low cost mp3 player that I could use while running and working out on cardio equipment in the gym. The Nomad IIc exceeded my expectations.
The interface is extremely intuitive, so much so that I have yet to read the user's manual. With the onboard 64mg of memory and another 64mb smart media card I can listen to 3 full albums ripped at 128 kbs.
Using Windows 2000 and 98 I have had no trouble loading songs to the player. I would admit that I found it easier to use Windows Media player to do so with Win98, but am impressed with how easy it is to move music from existing CDs to the unit. I have recommended the Nomad IIc to several non-techie friends.
The player features a "lock" control which renders the buttons useless when engaged. This feature is useful when you are listening to music while running as it prevents an incidental bump from disrupting playback. For active use, this player is ideal. The clip is more than sturdy enough to stay in place when attached to a waist band.
I had trouble figuring where the smart media slot was located; finally caught glimpse of a small diagram on the back of the unit that clued me in. Of course, as noted earlier, I never bothered to read any documentation, so this may have been explained in the manual.
